no care about the rest so far, but Meriweather has told teammates that he believes he'll be cut if the Pats don't trade him

Brandon Tate and Lee Smith also cut

Tate doesn't surprise me. I feel like he had the potential to be a legitimate deep threat, but made too many stupid mistakes and suffered from a lack of creativity when he had the football in his hands

I won't miss Brandon Tate. His hands were suspect, and he can't run routes worth anything.

Cutting Eric Moore is dumb. I liked Moore a lot last year and I thought he really could have flourished in this new defense. I like that Mark Anderson is sticking around though.

Lee Smith cut, Markell Carter cut, Malcolm Williams cut.

I get that they had a lot of draft picks, but this just lends to the already strong suspicion that the Pats put it in cruise control for the 2nd half of this year's draft. These are 3 guys that didn't make a ton of sense to go after in the first place and now they're on the curb. There were guys available that had an actual shot to make an NFL roster and now they're going to work in someone else's camp. If we were switching to a 4-3 then WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T THEY DRAFT MARK HERZLICH. He made the Giants' 53 despite them already having a deep well established linebacker group. Taking Malcolm Williams in the 7th is a slap in the face to Patriots fans.

And there's no excuse for Will Yeatman not being on this team as a 3rd TE. He out-worked deaddick Lee Smith and could have been really useful.

Also I don't know what Belichick's backup plan for safety is but it'd better not end in Ventrone.

Pats sign Brian Waters, put Jeff Tarpinian on IR

Bears sign Meriweather
Bills claim Lee Smith
Bengals claim Tate

Tarpinian sucks. Put him on IR for being allergic to tackles.

Bengals still don't have a quarterback, or an offensive line. So good luck with a "deep threat" wide receiver who couldn't even learn the Patriots offense in 3 years.

I know there are Meriweather haterz on here, but am I really the only one who is at all shocked that at 27 years old and 2 years removed from a 5 INT Pro Bowl season we're watching him sign a ONE YEAR deal with the fucking Chicago Bears??

I was a Butler believer in that I liked his rookie year, and thought he could maybe bounce back but good last year... wuuuuuuut??

2009: 69 targets, 39 receptions, 475 yards, 107 YAC, 2 TD, 3 INT, 69.4 QB rating
2010: 49 targets, 30 receptions, 390 yards, 112 YAC, 3 TD, 0 INT, 106.7 QB rating

You know Butler was #28 right, not the guy in the Jets jersey with the name "Edwards" on his back?

Wait.....who had the good year at corner last year then? I thought it was butler....

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Sep 7,2011 2:09pm
mccourty

I don't know how I got butler and mccourty confused but ya, that's who I was thinking of.

my source was wrong about Tarpinian, he was at practice today

I still thought Butler could turn it around, and I won't be surprised if he does well in Carolina
