New site? Maybe some day.
Are we talking about a serious conversation or a Dead Serious conversation? |
Rttp is serious business. |
A completely sarcastic conversation where the other person is 100% serious.
I'll start this discussion up.
Opeth really lights my fire. Moar top hats plz. |

I've just been lurking around here a few weeks, posting here and there. This forum is seriously uh... not serious. I was expecting local band discussion and maybe learning about bands I'd never heard before. Instead, I see that Martins dude post everywhere nonstop. How is he doing that anyway? Some of them show up at the same time.
Anyway, if this thread ends up being a serious music discussion I guess I'll give an opinion.
Never liked Black Metal, or Pagan Metal or any of that stuff. For me, it's all about the technical stuff like Beneath the Massacre. So catchy and emotional. |

Thank you Glace.
I agree with what you said except your last paragraph. |
I was kidding with the last paragraph! I thought I'd give being not-serious a try.
Anyway, I don't like the kvlt black metal bands but the more interesting groups like Deathspell Omega have always interested me. I love actual folk/pagan/viking metal but I just don't know much of it. I used to be really into brutal death metal like Disgorge but I'm not into it so much. Still think the riffs are fantastic on their own, but there's such a lack of feel. |
Good to hear. Welcome aboard. Now let's start discussing the difference between pseudo pagan metal bands like eluveitie and real ones like menhir |
Actually, Your Gaulish War is one of my favorite of those silly pagan songs. I don't like Eluveitie at all besides that song. It's just pretty catchy. I don't actually know Menhir... but maybe I should? |
so much for that serious discussion. |

Hey guys, I'm the new guy. I just wanted to know why:
-people are mean?
-the sun is hot?
-what is hip?
-how someone can pretend to be someone else on the 100% secure internet?
-what it means to be alive?
-when my acne will subside
-WHY DID I GET LOGGED OUT?
Thanks!

if you want to discuss this, then I'm down.
I really like older opeth (as you know) but I think they started losing it after blackwater. Deliverance was a good and heavy album, but lacked the atmosphere. They're moving away from the dual acoustic guitar harmonies as they progress. I haven't thoroughly enjoyed any opeth - album or live - since i saw the damnation tour. |
aril, you're the coolest guy on return to the pit so far. |
Orchid through Still Life still make for fine listening. And honestly, I loved Damnation for what it was. |

rusty you are making me seriously regret turning my images off. DAMN YOU. |

I loved Damnation for what it was. |
That is actually my favorite album of theirs, Opeth has always kinda bored me and I thought that was a really cool change of pace for them. |
that tour was one of my favorite of all time. i regret to this day not staying for Porcupine Tree because i had no idea who they were. i think they were on the In Absentia tour as well.... fuckity fuck fuck. |

We did the exact same thing and regretted it. Especially now since when I finally did see PT they didn't play anything I gave a shit about. |
Damnation would have been a far better acoustic album if they wrote it during the Still Life era. It had more a laid back, rock feel, as opposed to a more Scandinavian folk sound. Benighted & Harvest are examples of what I wish Damnation actually sounded like. |
Definitely not an unfair statement. |
HEY! I never said that! And now I'm not the one saying this! This is so hard. |
I do still enjoy it for what it is. Windowpane and To Rid the Disease are great songs. |
Goddammit now I gotta go dig out the CD. |
I like it. But I'd rather listen to stuff from the 70s, like the Swedish rock band Asoka. |
You gotta name me some of those 70s prog bands you like. |
just get on aim at somepoint |
You guys are my favorite RTTP couple. |

shut up, i hate aril as much as he hates 3d |
