41 -38 Pats

Whoever has the ball last will win.

This game has a lot more to do with defense than people will give it credit for, but I think that's something that will eventually favor the Pats.

Check it. The Saints have the #1 defensive passer rating in the league by a long shot (57.83), and they're also the #2 team in bringing 5 or more man rushes in passing downs. They get away with this by scoring fast, and forcing opposing teams into must pass situations. This plays perfectly into the hands of the Patriots who hate to run the football anyways. If the Saints plan on blitzing their safeties at all they'd better plan on Welker and Moss eating them up for quick yardage all day.

If I'm Sean Payton I'm doubling Randy Moss with Roman Harper all night. Harper is fast and has crazy good coverage skills and should put a real damper on the Pats deep game, which is fine with me. Brady's downfield accuracy still isn't there yet, and I'd rather not watch them squander downs on it too much.

On the flip side of it, can you say that the Saints have faced a defense like the Pats all year? They haven't seen a super physical safety pair like Merriweather and McGowan all season. Safety play and knocking balls loose are going to be critical against a guy like Brees who can spread the ball around. I think Bodden is going to be out to smack Marques Colston in the mouth. Belichick knows this better than anyone. The way to beat a pass oriented offense like this is to out physical them, and I love the Patriots chances there.

If the Saints don't get Jabari Greer on the field then honestly, who else scares you as far as their corners go? Randall Gay? Gay is only as good as the players around him, and if the Saints have to goto their depth chart to put a lid on the Pats then Brady is going to chew them up.

I really hope the Pats lose so my neighbor will go on a drunk driving rampage and kill himself.

That'll teach him for persistently stealing my parking spot despite having him towed once before.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Nov 30,2009 1:38pm
Your neighbor sucks. I hope Bernard Pollard ruins his ACL.

Go Pats.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Nov 30,2009 1:40pm
I'm open to him dying for another reason. I won't pray to my lord and savior for football defeat.

The day of a big Saints game in New Orleans often feels like a holiday, with barely any work getting done.

On Monday, with the Saints' biggest game in three seasons on deck, the city essentially made the holiday official.

The City Hall and other city offices located on Poydras St. near the Superdome will close early at 3 P.M. because of pregame preparations and anticipated traffic. Emergency services will continue to be provided.

JUST IN CASE...

Pats will win. Saints are overrated, despite them nearing 400 points this season.

OH SHIT! REGGIE BUSH IS OUT!... oh wait. This isn't the Rose Bowl. No carez.

Both the Saints starting corners are out along with Lance Moore.

The Pats get Matt Light, Stephen Neal, and Sammy Morris back.

HELLS BELLS BITCH

Saints are over rated. Whether they win here or not, they will flop in their first play off game.

toggletoggle post by aril at Nov 30,2009 8:07pm
Neal and Morris are back?

Saints are doomed.

I can't believe that shit went down like it did last night.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Dec 1,2009 7:02am
Heh, I was going to say in this thread yesterday that the Pats were going to get smoked, but I refrained. Well, there you go. 5 td passes for brees, haha. Damn nugga!

toggletoggle post by aril at Dec 1,2009 7:25am
Defence sucked.

However I think the momentum would have shifted had the patriots gotten that obvious pass interference call towards the beginning.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Dec 1,2009 7:28am
boy, i'm so glad i stayed up to watch this shitshow.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Dec 1,2009 7:52am
Pats are 1-5 on the road this year I believe.

toggletoggle post by corpus_ at Dec 1,2009 8:09am
pretty funny to read the predictions on here.

pretty rough game last night.
i thought after the first quarter that it was "clobberin' time."

but no..

say what you want about how nice it would be to have seymour back...
who cares-we'll get a great pick for him.

NO, we are not the team of old--
YES, we are rebuilding...and doing so at the top of the division.

we will make the playoffs and anything can happen then. we have the ability to beat anyone on any given day...you have seen it happen when we put it together---it's nice. alot of these teams who are exploding and kicking ass now, will be ripe for the picking--in the sense that they will have more to loose; and most likely will.

toggletoggle post by aril at Dec 1,2009 8:31am
Two teams may go 16-0. If they do, the 2007 patriots font look sp special anymore

Colts might rest Peyton if they go 14-0. It would not be the first time a team has done this who had nothing to lose by resting players.

toggletoggle post by aril at Dec 1,2009 8:50am
Lol I was half asleep on the train when I typed that.

But yea I don't think they will go 16-0. But, if they do, well FUCK THE SAINTS. Who dat?Dats a football team that will lose in the playoffs, dats who.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Dec 1,2009 9:07am
man, that would be hilarious if a team went 18-1

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Dec 1,2009 9:21am
Last nights game was the most frustrating i've watched all year. I know most people think that the indy fourth quarter was the worst, but nope. I've never seen a secondary break down so completely before. Brees was throwing wherever he wanted to, and his receivers schooled every bit of coverage we had. ouch.

...sucks.

toggletoggle post by gslice at Dec 1,2009 1:43pm
lol @ this thread, way to go pats defense, they couldn't stop a dead fly with a hammer last night

to be fair, Bree's is a surgeon, but he barely needed to be in that game

I will say this, the colts and the saints both wont have a problem with the undefeated streak going to their heads as long as the other team is also undefeated, as soon as one loses shit will get real for the other, and I think if the colts had any brains they would use that to their advantage and take a loss now that they've clinched the division and their coach has had the best start ever for a rookie, especially since they are (arguably) the weaker team

watson is horrible. they need to get rid of him and fumbleroney. get a tight end who can catch the football and a rb who can hold onto it.

you know I keep hearing that, but the pats I saw last night have no realistic chance defensively against the vikings or the bengals, and after that loss Id even worry about the (vomit) cowboys and eagles

I like the pats, but they have nothing going on on the backside of the ball, and it's pretty clear that's no secret to bellichik, or anyone else

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Dec 1,2009 6:43pm
The Jets brought in Joe Girardi to teach Mark Sanchez how to slide.

Rex Ryan's dignity limbo bar just got lowered another notch.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Dec 1,2009 6:45pm
Watson had, what, 1 target last night? And that ball was nearly impossible to catch despite hitting him in the helmet. He had he arms out like he was supposed to but the safety played it great.

Maroney looks better and better exploiting gaps up the middle. He can't do a fucking thing on the edge though. Any time you give him a pitch it's a minus 3 yards guaranteed.
