Heisai Yasokawa's Empty Orchestra, brutal grindcore from Massachusetts, is looking for a new drummer.

-Must be 21+, have some kind of job / financial resources

-Be willing and capable of taking liberal time off for shows and tours, with ample notice and obviously we'll all consider our schedules

-Have own, personal transportation

-Have own kit/gear which is maintained and updated

-Be able to play very fast AND accurately. No "mud" blasts, please.

-Not afraid to go against tradition

-Have a good musical background, whether through band experience, education, or personal experiences

-Bonus would be if you have a practice space

-Be able to get along with others, have a positive attitude, be sociable, find creative solutions to problems, and be passionate about music and the sometimes unpretty realities that come with being in a hard-working, aggressive metal band

We have been around since 2007 and have, in that time, played about 100 shows. We've performed, as a band, in about 5 states and individually in about 35 states. Rusty (vocals) and I (guitar) have very similar musical ideas and opinions on the direction for the band, as well as our own equipment and van. Our band is vocals and guitar through a loud, heavy rig.

We're looking for someone that is on board for our ideas and feels they coincide with their own, someone that will feel at home with how things are going and wants to become part of what's happening. Our music is very fast and somewhat different than what one would expect with traditional grind. We're somewhat opposed to long songs but like to have diversity in the music. Influences include Pig Destroyer, Magrudergrind, Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana, Muse, Neurosis, Incantation, Brutal Truth, Rotten Sound, Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Deadguy. We also like different eras of Converge from one another.

We started to try that, but like the impromptu feel that having a live drummer has.

Also, Rusty and I have pretty similar musical ideas most of the time and it'd be nice to have someone that brings fresh ideas to our group.

have you tried dropping the band name from your ads? i bet it's not helping (no offense, i like yer band)

i hate to say it, but that's not a bad idea. Not because i don't like the name of your band, more because a new drummer might listen to your demo and decide he doesn't want to play like your old drummer. Ya know?

That's a pretty good idea, and I'll definitely consider it. The tricky thing is that we have developed a small amount of clout and I'd like to capitalize on that by suggesting that we're not a new band, we're a band that's been doing stuff so we're trying to keep moving forward.

I'll talk to Rusty today and try to come up with a new ad.

Now again, this is just an idea: But you could have the add speak to the fact that you guys HAVE played X number of shows, and have recording scheduled, and blah blah blah. I know it seems a little pretentious, but at least you still get the point accross to the potential drummer that you guys have done some shit.

No matter how you work your add, it's gonna be hard to find a drummer. They're rare, that's the bottom line. So no matter how you word it, don't get discouraged if you don't get a bunch of replies, just keep looking. You guys will find someone in due time.

reim- if you want to get together at some point i could show you some different ways i'm doing some of the parts. After playing with these guys a handful of times now, i can really tell what gets their dicks hard. (nick & rusty's dicks, respectively.) And if you're working on your blasts, I have some great exercises for those to get em fast, tight, and LOUD... and it'd be fun to blaze and do drum shit with you anyways, call me.
