New site? Maybe some day.
What do you guys think? He did it on a four foot long canvas with oil paints, i think it will look awesome on shirts. |
That's pretty sweet.
So, you're sticking with the name? |
yup we are. We kept thinkin about it, and decided we like it. We were talking about the first demo cover, and raymond swanland (did the cover of the new deeds of flesh) said he would do it for us, and were thinking we would have a Boar-zombie eating some animal/person. |
I like it. Maybe make the letters thicker? |
Are you suggestion making them thicker through photoshop, or by adding paint to the mural?
I really like it too, i don't think it looks like most other metal fonts, but it still looks obviously metal. Which is kinda important. Most metal heads see a logo, and if it doesnt look remotely metal, they probably won't go out of their way to hear it. Does it resemble any other logos you can think of? |
It looks really sloppy and dirty and bloody. I like it for sure. It doesn't really look like any logos I've seen before but most definitely looks like it would be the logo for some sort of experimental metal band. Logos aren't important to me but if they're fucking cool, I'll look at them more haha.
If anything I think this could be even sloppier as if said corpse of said boar was rolling all around it. |
Jim I agree with making the paint on the canvas thicker, not because it'd be more metal but I think it'll look more disgusting while still being able to read it. It's fucking awesome and sloppy and the mixed paint is what makes it. |
what do you mean amp? are you asking how the Genz Benz turned out? If so, it is the best guitar head i have ever had the pleasure of playing my drums with. (which IMHO are the best sounding drums on the planet, Tama starclassic Bubinga!) The Genz Benz cuts through like a mesa, but has the thick warmth of a marshall jcm800, it's fucking sick. And The best thing about it is what it does to my drums, and damons bass(which is also real nice) due to how much less noise this amp produces compared to the Marshall Mode4, you can hear EVERY NOTE me and damon play. Even in my little apartment where the sound is crazy-live. I can't wait to hear it in a club, i bet you'll be able to make out every note of every song, from every instrument. Which has always been the most important part of tone for any instrument. But like i said, it doesn't just cut through like a mesa, it's got the crazy nice warm round sound that sounds sweet to your ears. I can't say enough good things about this amp.
Our vocs at the moment are being done by the old ouch singer, who may or may not be in it for the long haul. We are all gonna talk this weekend about it. But he knew why we were looking for someone else, mostly due to the rap-ish yelling stuff, and his screams being all mids. His screams are really good, and his control/knowledge of counterpoint/rhythms are great. He stopped doing the funny yelling stuff (that was appropriate for ouch, but not for this) and he's been working on his extreme low, and his "witch scream" highs.. They sound awesome. And we all get along really well with him, he's one of our best friends, so i hope it works out, but you never know.
I'd really like it if any of you could make the show on monday and give us any criticism. (as far as what you could hear, what you couldn't, how everything went together from a listener point of view, etc...) While we will obviously keep doing whatever we want to, it's always nice to get criticism so that you can look at your stuff from a different prospective and maybe see something you missed before.
Conservationist/darkway/martins- good call, i will ask him to do that to it. (that being make the letters thicker and slightly messier.) We were thinking that when we make shirts, we could put it on a black shirt, where black will replace the white, and make the black part of the letters glossy (like the oil naturally makes it) so you can read it without light shining on it, but when light does shine on it it will take on a different shape/texture. What do you guys think about that? |
I'd definitely say make the letters a bit thicker on the canvas; it's definitely going in the right direction. With the letters thicker, I'd say a bit more deviated "noise" or extra stray marks/lines coming from the logo would beef it up as well. Right now it looks like the artist took a mundane font and fucked with it by hand (not a bad thing). If he pushes it a bit more, it will be perfect.
And there is nothing wrong with using a logo that doesn't necessarily fit the genre; I personally am getting sick of 9 out of every 10 bands asking for the same style logo, so I stopped doing them. Music and the art representing the music has sort of reached a pinnacle these days and unless it pays tribute to roots or is masterful, you really need something different to not get lost in the deep sea of regularity. |
hey there mark, never said i wanted it to look like everyone else's, i said i wanted it to retain the aggressive look so that metal heads wouldn't see it on a flyer and think they should skip our set. We actually specifically wanted him to do one that didn't look like everyone else's spider-web looking metal font. What do you think of the black shirt, printed with this logo, and having the black in the logo be glossy so that when light hits it the black parts will stand out from the shirt? |
Oh I'm not assuming you didn't want it to look like everyone else's logo, I'm agreeing with you that it shouldn't, haha. Just preaching to the choir, my good man.
If that logo is put on a black shirt, you'd probably want all of the ink to be semi-gloss. If just the black ink is glossy, it will look odd and as if an amateur pressed it. Uniformity is key. |
more interested in the shockwave I was supposed to buy from your coworker last week... |
hmmm.... ok. I guess i thought the change in how much of the logo you could see with the light was why i didn't want uniformity, but you i believe you, i think you have a lot more experience with printing than i do. Do you think it would look good in gloss on a black shirt? |
oh yeah.. hahahahahah. well he's still got the thing.. let me ask him about shipping it, you didn't remind me, so i forgot. Call me anytime tomorrow and i will have found out by then. |
word, I might be able to get out there again this weekend if he's willing to haggle |

I'd say gloss on a black shirt would indeed look good. And I've definitely seen some botched print jobs before (have created some as well, haha), and believe me, uniformity will be key, haha. |
could you help us with some of these mark? Maybe give us a reduced price in return for me doing the same for cd cover/insert printing? I would like to get some protypes printed of this on a shirt so we can decide which ones to print in bulk.
And i dunno if you read about our demo cover idea that Raymond Swanland (new deeds of flesh cover) is going to do: Boar-Zombie devouring some sort of animal/person. We will give him the finished version of this logo to work into the top/bottom/side of it too, and have him obviously plan the colors so the pic looks good with the logo accross it. |

he is, and i will get the amp to my place before this weekend from his place, so we won't have to coardinate meeting with you, me, AND him. It will just be me. How about monday? Cause then you could watch boarcorpse play, and even crash at my place and drive back to albany in the morning with the amp? |
Actually, I don't think I'll need any of the CD insert pressing since a Czech label is giving us some dough for the CDs, haha; I may have you print some promo ads in the future though, when the CD is out.
But anywho, I CAN hook you up with the dude who printed the latest Composted and Parasitic Extirpation shirts. I'll just have to talk to him first to make sure it's ok. I don't do printing anymore myself, unfortunately.
Sounds like your demo CD is going to be fucking retardedly amazing looking, haha. |
yeah i can't wait for it. And just wait till you hear how the music coming, it's quadroupled in quality since the show with Parasitic. We have REALLY put our souls into making it perfect. As far as all the little things, all the changes, and i personally have taken EVERY BEAT from all of the songs, and played them with a metranome for HOURS. No exageration. I want the demo to be perfect, so i have eaten/slept/and LIVED boarcorpse for the last couple months. Can you come to the show monday night? It would be huge if you could, and i could talk to you more about the debt consolidation? |
it looks like a 12yr old made it. and the name is fucking retarded to.
wow, strange that the criticism comes from anonymous. I personally have no problem giving people criticism under MY OWN NAME. Whatever. I don't think a 12 year old could acheive the level of texture it has, but there will be people that feel that way about any messy logo. |
and thankfully, we all like the name a lot. A LARGE portion of people don't, but just like the way we feel about the actual music, we could give a fuck what anyone thinks of it. We do it for ourselves. The logo on the otherhand, is used to get attention on flyers, therefor we do want people to like it. anyways, i am going to practice with boarcorpse right now, so thanks all for the input, even you larry david. hehe. Night guys. Mark gimme a call about the consolidation loan. |
I'm going to try my best to get to that show; I was originally going to Today Is The Day, but I can't afford it...if I can afford just the gas money to get to Boston, I'll be there, haha. |
Well, I just remembered that I don't have lab this Tuesday so I am DEFINITELY going to the show if it's still cool with you, Ouch. MFR going is just icing on the clitoris cake.
No but seriously, I've been listening to ∏ on repeat since Grant finally gave me you guys' EP. I fucking love the vocalist and all the cool shit you do on drums, never mind the sweet guitar parts. BoarCorpse can do no wrong.

It resembles nothing I know of currently, but I think stands on its own.
The visual artist who made the original will probably know best -- either way will work for thickening.
It's important for metal to have a distinct identity. It looks different without losing that metalness. <-- new word |

I might be able to swing this, I'd definitely like to check you guys out, but I have class in oneonta monday til 6 and tuesday at 10, which is 4 hours from Boston so it might be a little rough, Sunday would be ideal I think if we could pull it off |
Where may I hear some of this dead boars' tunes? |
myspace.com/boarcorpse although i swear those recordings aren't a great representation. The stuff is a LOT more polished now. |
Cool, thanks painful drummer! |
