I plan on getting away this weekend. Maybe go to upstate NY. Go hiking, catch a show, who knows? Anyone know of any nice spots to check out?

As a former central new yorker I can tell you that the best thing to do this time of year is go skiing, snowboarding, or snow shoe-ing. I garantee you that the hiking trails are covered in about three feet of snow by now. Xcountry skiing up on the tug hill plateau is great. The best ski lodge in that area is Snow Ridge.

If you are going to a show, try the Westcott Community Center.

Well thanks DrewBlood. Never skiied before but went snowboarding several times. Not feeling the walking through feet of snow thing.
Thanks rev and Yeti for your insight. Pimp out your state. Maybe I'll visit there.

If your relatives are all crust punks that book awesome shows, then yes.

one time i was out ice fishing with this total knob, he is one of those people that spews so much bullshit that it isn't worth listening to anything he says even if it might be true, and gets insanely defensive when you contradict him. so he was going on and on about how he supposedly saw the Aurora Borealis over Oakham, and the whole time he was talking all i could think was:

the Aurora Borealis, at this time of year, in this part of the world, concentrated solely over Oakham.
