I don't expect anyone to care, but I've got to get this off my chest somehow. I'm in my first semester working on my masters degree. I goto every class. I read every e-mail the school sends to me. You'd think I was on top of things. But yesterday I find out, ONLY by overhearing it in someone else's conversation, that registration for Spring classes starts Wednesday... as in tomorrow. I have 5 e-mails for the month of October from the Assistant Dean of Student Services. Here are the titles: Booze Cruise -- This Friday! Celtics Tickets and Booze Cruise tickets Mohegan Sun today! Mohegan Sun and Booze cruise update and a fifth one about someone getting promoted to Dean. Do you think that MAYBE, just maybe info about when I'm supposed to register for classes would supercede, or even be included in any of the 3 e-mails about a fucking BOOZE CRUISE?? There isn't one single piece of information about this on the Com school graduate page. It's not listed on the academic calendar. I have no documentation whatsoever telling me how to even go about doing this, what classes are being offered, who I need to talk to. How the hell was I expected to know any of this?! This is the exact same thing that happened during my undergrad. Nobody ever knew when to register. I was absolutely lost registering for spring classes as a freshman. Someone who wasn't even an adviser had to approve my schedule because my regular adviser was booked up with appointments for 2 weeks after registration started. I went through 5 advisers in 4 years, each of them (at least once) cancelled an appointment with me without telling me or even leaving a note on the door. Why is it so goddamn hard for colleges to let you know important information. Registration, class cancellation, snow days, parking. They guard this information like it's in a nuclear reactor under the Pentagon, and when you finally break down and start making phone calls they give you that smug college "Welcome to the real world" attitude, and pretend that giving you the runaround is preparing you for something. I remember one year this huge snow storm hit. Rumors started circulating that classes were cancelled for the next day. It was late at night, and I called up the campus police. They told me all classes before 11 am the next morning were cancelled to make time for snow removal. Would have been nice for someone to send us an e-mail or whatever, but fine.... class before 11 is cancelled, great. I end up being woken up at 9:00 by some kid flipping out in the hallway because none of the morning classes weren't cancelled like the police said they'd be, and he had to take a test. Same shit. Different school.

I heard the Deltas just took over the freshman dorm after their house burnt down.
