I remember the first one. I was 15 and I was there. It was awesome. After that they started to suck.

There's 0 bands on that list I want to see.

i've seen all of those bands except katakysm.
i hope they add some more innovative bands
and i do not mean waking the cadaver even though i suspect they are rumored to play.

The first one will NEVER be topped. Metal bands Friday and all day Saturday, hardcore crapfest on Sunday (except for Usurper, who got totally screwed).

i hear they have something big planned for the saturday of the fest.
hopefully some real good oldschool metal bands, cause i can only take so much chug chug ninja kick bullshit all day. lets get some talent.

I can live with Dimmu and BDM but that butcher guy is still a tool.
Christ, the Metal fest has got to take more chances with getting better bands. Just stuff that is on it's way up in the scene or something different all together.

I'll be there this year. Hopefully the bands get better.

The name "metal" should not even be involved here, It is a hardcore fest with a few metal bands,but that is all.

I know. But from the business perspective...they book popular bands. What's popular now sucks. I go mainly because I get in free and I get to see lots of people, drink, and be merry.

I'm just going to cross my fingers for a few good bands.

I am going to go out on limb here and say the real highlight of this fest will be none other then all other highlights at the palladium.....massive amounts of alcohol!

After 5 years of going to this fest and always saying "next year we will hopefully play this", looks like last year we were finally right.

I have fun every year no matter how awful the lineup is. Tailgate BBQ/beer while the bad bands are playing...problem solved.

cause 3 days didn't go over well last year. Mass concerts is the reason that dragonforce came over. they were the ones that paid for dragonforce's airfare to this country and the reason that they toured all last year.

i went to this a few years ago, drove non-stop all the way from orlando, fl

it was a great experience, we stopped in manhattan on the way to the show

the line-up was pretty good back then, we'll have to wait and see the final list...

Metalfest has not been worth my $$ in a long time. The only reason why I went to one of the days (and only for a few hours) was for Necrophagist. At the time, I didn't really listen to them anymore I just had wanted to see them.

Sacreligion's headlining the main stage on saturday. that's enough reason to go

There is much to much bitching about metalfest lineups of the past and present. You should be lucky to have such a fest in your own backyard. It's a chance to get together, drink a ton of beer, and bang your head. I'd rather be at metalfest for a full weekend than in my living room wishing for a Carcass reunion that will never occur. There is a limited amount of time and space on this fest so all of your favorite bands will not all play. Here's an idea...you book a show and get bloodbath to play, I'm sure people will come. It's not as easy as your think. Solution... get ticket...go to show...drink beer....get rowdy...have fun. You need to get away from thinking that only bands that play in their parents basements for 7 friends have talent. If you could play in a band like Black Dahlia Murder, you would, but you can't. Let's see, a few bands that have played metalfest in the past:

Okay - so a FEW good bands have played the fest, but you always have to sit through a bunch of screamo kids whining about heartache and breakups and then sit through more xxXTUFFGUYXCOREXMOSHXxx garbage before someone like Deeds of Flesh takes the stage.
By the way I counted 11 bands in that list that suck.

The only good bands I can remember seeing there were Bodomm Iced Earth, Hypocrisy, Dark Tranquility, Gamma Ray, Behemoth, and blind guardian.

I say we start some kind of metalfest in summer in some city between boston and manchester NH. Have big name power metal headliners who will draw a good crowd, then throw tons of obscure death and black metal bands in there to please the rest of us.
