It's just a way to crossover and gain listeners that would otherwise stick to their marginal tastes in a certain sub-genre and nothing more.

I don't think what KISS wore is really corpsepaint, because they don't look at all like corpses. If KISS wears corpse paint, so do ICP. Alice Cooper though, wore what he wore to look sort of dead so I think he counts and is probably the first.
By the way, where's the Alice Cooper appreciation thread? |
