thanks rev, ill see you there. were leaving at around 5:30...so ill be there around 7ish im guessing. hope i dont miss too many bands. im assuming hulud, deadtofall and black my heart are playing last?
so, this show has one major flaw. All the bands use their own equipment. This meant that EVERY band had both a van and a trailer. This also meant that they all had to lug in their gear and set it up. So much gear! and so much set up. Why won't bands share?
pheonix mourning: they were one of the bands that people may have heard of, but never really heard. I think they are the youngest band on metalblade now. Outside, there was an awesome scene of them trying to find space on the back streets of cambridge for the longest van ever and the longest trailer ever (nascar trailer?). their set was good, but it's hard to hear a lot of things in there so I wasn't as good sounding as the palladium show. Still, their bassist is pretty awesome at the bass. You might not have caught that here. Their last song-let was a 30second death-core JFAC thing that probably would have the accountants at MB thinking "yeah to more of that $tuffff!"
one dead three wounded: ruled. A mixture of MLIW/have heart and stoner rock. Very positive. these guys have changed for the better over the past 3 years. during their set the crowd tipped the number of people in bands and steddily increased over the set/show. They have a lot of rocky parts that dancers can dance to, but that's why I like it.
twelves tribes: finally I get to see them in a small club and not up on a stage. theyhad a couple people who were up front singing. It would have been so much better it the kids around here had cared enough to come out to this show. the songs that they played a bunch of songs off the CD that I have. I recognized they, but don't know the lyrics. more people dancing and singing along.
dead to fall: by the time they went on the crowd was really shaping up well. I didn't really trecognize anyone but the singer and the guitar player. They played 1/2 old songs and 1/2 new songs. I really like the first album so I go to hear 2 tracks off that. People were pushed to the back of the room by the large number of dancers and jon was pushed back by all the kids running up to sing along. At one point during their set, the bass crapped out, but they fixed it fast enough to get everyone doing shark dances around the floor. they ended with the eternal gates of hell per usual.
I just got home.
you are in pictures too.
working on them.

oh man i just wrote a long review of this show and then somehow deleted it...fuckin lame. well pretty much all you need to know is shai hulud is the best band ever and they put on one of the best shows ive ever seen tonight. if your a hulud fan and you missed this, you should be very pissed at yourself.
I went to this show to relive a few years ago. If this was 2 or 3 years ago I would have been out there dancing and singing along, no doubt about it.
I thought it was kind of funny when the drummer from Playing Enemy, who was playing with Shai Hulud, recognized me from MySpace. We happened to know a common friend and chatted for quite a long time.
Seeing Shai Hulud this time was kind of weird for me. I recognized two members from last time I saw them and that was it. I'm not sure who was singing for them. I have to say that Andy from Playing Enemy was probably the best drummer I have ever seen play with them. I don't even think they needed a vocalist to go on tour with them with the amount of people singing along.
they had two original members. the guy who was playing bass has switched between guitar and bass all throughout Shai Hulud's career. I think his name was Matt Fox. There was the guitarist who had the mic, was an original member, too. I can't think of his name, though.
seemed like a great show either way i have to see them next time....

the singer is the guy from zombie apocalypse (matt foxs other band)...ive seen them twice with him and never heard his vocals. lol. the guitarist has been there the past two shows too. i have to agree that this drummer is incredible with them.
