Hi Monster Cable,
back in the 90's I bought a monster speaker cable that was about 6' long with gold connectors. It served me well but recently it became selective about how and when it would work, and the tip of a piece appeared to be falling apart. Thusly, I returned it for a replacement. I was dimayed to find the cable I got in return was far inferior to the original cable I purchased. It had no gold connectors, was made of plastic and not rubber, appeared less thick, and -- since I already own one of these cables i was given -- I know the tone I get it from it seems a lot more crisp instead of warm.
I asked if I could just have the same cable I brought in, but was told this is a higher end model now and is not considered the replacement for what I had (Prolink I believe...the replacement they gave me is at my practice space, still in packaging). Is this true? I am not as happy with this replacement and I am wondering what I can do about it. I feel like the cable I had should be replaced with an equal cable, not a lesser one.
thanks for your feedback,
-Nicholas
I sent this to Monster's Customer Service. This is fucking stupid. Plus Monster Cables break at the most inconvenient fucking times. I used to borrow a friend's for shows and they would always snap. |

good luck!
hope they send you goodies |

i agree, even if they changed the model specs, they should give you something equal in quality. sometimes the dealers themselves are funny about returning them, even though it is policy...hopefully Monster will make good on it. |

I had to buy a Monster Cable last weekend, but reluctantly because
1.) they look gay
2.) That lifetime guarantee is snake oil when it really comes down to it
but I needed a right-angle connector. So...I guess I'm fucked. |

why's that? |

Good guarantee, shitty cables. I have over $300 in monster studio link cables. But their bissnuess practice's are absurd. From now on I will not buy anymore monster cables.
The 1/4" barrell on their cables are slightly bigger in diameter(about .004" larger than standard cable mfg's) On removing the cable from my focusrite preamp, it ended up fucking up the female 1/4" input jack.(bending it to total shit) Now when I plug a cable in to the jack, its as loose as a providence crack whore.
Fuck monster cable, buy the real shit- mogami, belden etc. |

ive had so much trouble with those cables i just keep on returning them and then sometimes a week later i go back to return it again |

I've been happily using Monster Cables for a while now. |

Read that.
Fuck monster. Buy mogami.
Some other lawsuits not mentioned in the article:
1) sued disney for their movie "Monsters Inc."
2) Sued a family owned costume store called the "monster shop"
3) Sued emachines for their EMonster computer line
4) Sued MonsterBook.com (monster cable now owns it)
5) Sued discovery channel over their "monster house" and "monster garage" programs
Seriously, I'd always used monster cables and sworn by them for years, but after hearing about this shit a few years ago I swore I'd never buy their products again. |

i will always use monster cables. i need to one day step up to the studio pro 1000 cables. literally the best cables money can buy. |

I was waiting for Blue to respond to this...about 95% of the words he spoke this weekend had something to do with monster cables |
|
dude it's pretty bullshit though, my old cable was way better. They promised to give me the same cable, and this is not the same cable. |

dood you just got hosed by whoever was working that day |
|
bring it to Souza from The Departed in North Attleboro...he'll hook it up...I need to start abusing him more often...ha |
|
nick, if you can't get the same cable you want, don't buy new ones - keep the one you've got. i've been planning on buying about 50 feet of higher quality cable to redo all my gear sometime, and i could just get some mogami jacks while i'm at it and do a cable up for you... find the specs for the old monster cable you had and i guess i can match them for you... you know i've got nothing better to do haha
oh yeah i'm going to finish up your amp tomorrow... |
|
Rip-off.
Wait, but Sammy Hagar endorses them, they've got to be good, right? |
|
UPDATE:
Monster called me. I am going to send them the cable I got as a replacement and they will send me back an "upgrade" to the gold cable. I said "Well I just want what i had before, I don't need a super-fancy one". Then they told me my old cable was discontinued. Damn it, the only good monster cable they make and it's out of production.
The power cleaners are damn fine pieces of equipment though. |
