ok, count hbbsi in on this. do you take music in mp3 format or just CD?

mp3 is NOT recommended. mp3's are compressed files with much lost quality. 24 bit wav file is top choice. followed by 16 bit cd quality audio(if you have a cd out just burn the song you want to a cd-r and it will be 16 bit)

It's your song that will be represented if you really want to submit it in mp3 form you can.

i suggest saving more copies of the cd to be passed out sunday, since there are real metal bands on that day and friday is mostly metalcore day, and those fans might just throw it in the trash.

my comment is not meant to be taken as a metal vs. hardcore thing. if more hardcore bands than metal bands end up on this comp, by all means disregard my suggestion.

in an ideal world some of the "rttp" related bands that are playing the first 2 days of the fest would be on the compilation giving people more reason to hold on to it

pillory. but i think they where the only ones to actually send one last week. about 3-4 said they sent them over the weekend and another 7-8 by the end of this week. burn my remains is recording this upcoming weekend. not common records has agreed to sponsor as well as bluntface records. anne and dwyer where all about it last week dunno bout them officialy. rev has not mentioned or commented on it in almost a week. maybe he should mention it on the show?

i'll make an update thread tomorrow with the bands confirmed to be in the process of getting their submissions out to me and i will be sending an e-mail to most of ^those^ bands.

hey josh, if you don't get enough submissions for a 2 disc comp, will you do it as a single disc? not sure if that has been covered yet.

i read that part of the FAQ, but it only said "If the comp is close to being filled we might press it late and miss metal fest but still have many other shows in the future to distribute it at." i was wondering if there was a possibility you would just press it and get it out for metalfest as a single disc, but now i see that the money would be different and bands would have to send you more immediately for that to be possible.

doesn't mean i would need more money from bands. its just that 2000 cds in 1 case with one set of inserts wrapped is easier to do with 30 bands than 1000 cds in the same format. we would need 20 bands on one cd. or 18 bands and less packaging like a cardboard sleeve. or just get the raw discs and get the cover done seperate and assemble them all (providing john dwyer still wanted to help shrinkwrap them and stuff). just goes with the price/quantity scale the more you buy the less it is per unit.

but some people do not mind having a compilation later than the metal fest if that be the case. you will have the option. and it looks like about 16-18 bands will have their submissions in the mail this week. which is at least enough for 1 disc. if about 25 bands submit it will not be enough for 2 discs and wont all fit onto one disc. first come first serve. they will have to wait for volume 2 if they dont fit on volume 1. 34 bands are needed to fill the 2 cd version.
