That's natural selection, and it keeps life precious.

Life is indeed precious. Rare moments of beauty in an otherwise never-ending torrent of negativity, failure, and personal obliteration in death. When we, as an enlightened republic aware of the value of life, encounter others who do not share our reverence for life, our only recourse is to fund rebel groups in their countries and launch two-year civil wars in which a quarter of their civilians die. It's for life itself that we do this.
