Hey, I know I'm a n00b here, but figured I'd give this board a shout. I'm starting a new band and I'm looking for a drummer and bassist for my new metal project. I have interest of a vocalist and we're looking to mix it up from metal to hardcore to post hardcore to who knows.
I have more than 3 dozen shows under my belt in the NY/NJ, although none of them have been in Mass/NE. I'm looking to get this ban gigging at least once a month and wouldn't mind the occasional weekend trip to play a show in Buffalo or Cleveland or where the music takes us.
I have some clips here to give you an idea of where I'm at now:

Not that I'm in any way in favor of bigger government, but there should be some laws in place about who is allowed to purchase musical instruments.

look, I'm not looking for a massive troll fest. If you're not interested in wanting to be in my band, move along. I'm well aware I'm not Steve Vai

just saying, if you post here you should be prepared to be trolled and heckled. Either you can laugh it off and have fun with it or ignore it and continue on your merry way or you can get mad and the trolls will have fun with it. Either way good luck.

I forgot this was "the internet" which openly permits people to act like fucktards and asshats with no repercussions.

Someone told me this would be a great place to find people for my new band. I guess I was steered wrong.

Yeah this forum isn't the best place to look for band members.

Try Craigslist, if you haven't done that already.

This isn't a bad place to find musicians to work with unless you are a tool that can't take a joke. Even if you don't immediately find the drummer or guitarist you've been looking for you might make some friends at some shows who can in turn introduce you to other folks. I didn't know anyone on this site when I started posting here. Almost 10 years later and I can identify almost everyone at a show by their RTTP screen name and have played in bands and at shows with most all of them. My experience with finding people on Craigslist has been less than spectacular. Total waste of fucking time.

Ok so I just listened to the recordings (it's cool that you covered life of agony). Find a songwriting guitar player to work with or an already established band to join. Song writers writes songs. Guitar players play them. If I had a dollar for ever guitar player I jammed with that could play but not write a song for fuck I'd be rich. I'm a drummer not a song writer so when looking for bands to join I try to find one with decent songs I can get into playing.

This is not trolling. It's constructive criticism from an honest point of view. (it's early on a sunday and i'm wide awake and bored as fuck)

thanks for the input. Most of what I have are just loose ideas and I want to expand them out to fit whatever this vocalist I may or may not have chooses. I could take the time to demo them out with a drum program but I feel like that kills the energy and vibe of playing with a real drummer and adjusting the songs to their style.
I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel or anything, just looking to jam out with people, this scene up here seems way more receptive than what I put up with in NY. They didn't want any metal where I was.

most all drummers i know are taken. go to shows and talk to people. dear god don't go to craigslist or music store boards, then you have to deal with the public and people that have no idea metal shows exist around here.

I'd say program the drums first if you can't find a real drummer. Just having the guitar with nothing else behind it doesn't really give much about the song at all.

Yea, as much as these losers on this site hate my band and talk shit. Ive gotten a bunch of people who saw my band on here and liked it. Good luck.
Also if your looking to play guitar in a band hit me up.
