This would be perfect for my diarrhea balloon plan. Exlax for 2 days, spray shit water into water balloons, unleash the FURY on the duck duck goosers.

I have some friends that are into Opeth, I can't listen to them.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Jan 16,2012 9:46pm
If this somehow plays a Boston venue, i.e. House of Blues, I might go. Definitely not if it winds up at the Palladium though.

it would be a chick haven... go just to get your dick wet....twice.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jan 17,2012 9:53am
ehhh i'll probably only go to this if free ticket falls in my lap somehow.

http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/01/16/trivi...rced-to-open-for-asking-alexandria/

Last week Vince posted the above totally epic picture of Trivium playing foosball against Ghost, and while we all had a good chuckle at the time, what we didn’t realize was that the stakes of the game were actually incredibly high. See, the winners got to go open for Mastodon and Opeth, while the losers had to open for.. Asking Alexandria. Brutal, right?

A source tells us that Trivium were incredibly confident in their foosball skills, but, alas, it may have been hubris: they lost, and do, indeed, now need to go be on a tour where they are not only going to be playing support for Asking Alexandria, but will find Dir En Grey, I See Stars, The Amity Afflication, and “Shitstain on the Ass of the Universe” alums Motionless in White as their tourmates. You know things are bad when the band you’re most stoked to be on tour with are Dir En Grey, for the simple reason that at least they don’t speak English, and will therefore most likely not bother you.

I’m not going to post dates for this wretched hellspawn of a trek, but you can get ‘em here if you really need to. Meanwhile, that awesome sounding Mastodon/Opeth/Ghost tour is still technically just a rumor, but we’ll post more details as we get ‘em.

Really don't want to see Opeth if he's not gonna growl at all. I love the old stuff like every fan but I'm not opened minded enough to dig what they're doing now.

There's much better modern prog with retro twinges. Fuck Opeth now.

The last few Opeth records have done absolutely nothing for me but I'll always respect them for having released six of my all time favorite albums. Akerfeldt is undeniably talented but he's completely lost focus and Opeth no longer possesses the qualities that once made them relevant. The recent line up is pretty weak and their music has suffered since the departures of Lopez and Lindgren. I caught their 20 anniversary show in NYC and it was a great send-off to end my attendance at any of their future shows.

I kick myself every day for not making an effort to go to that show :(

I went to it with Mikeov and got so wasted, I don't remember much of the 2nd half of the set. I just remember kids clapping to the songs like it was a hip hop show and yelling.

Also, MarkFuckingRichards was magically there somehow.

the loss of Martin Lopez was their death knell. Ghost Reveries was good, but unfocused, as he was considering leaving the band at that point. then to have Peter Lindgren replaced by Arch Enemy guy was laughable.

i'm glad i missed that 20th anniversary show, to see those classic songs without the key members is a travesty. the last time i saw them they did "The Night and the Silent Water" and it sounded atrocious, the magic is completely gone.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jan 19,2012 7:41am
and fuck Mastodon and Ghost.

thread has opeth in it's name = another thread reminiscing about opeth's past. oh you bros.

I thought the last Mastodon album was pretty groovy.

Opeth were incredibly borring on their last NO METAL NO HOW tour.

I'm going to see Ghost this weekend with Blood Ceremony and my interest in them will probably be spent until they do something new.

I never bought that any of the members in the band besides Mikael had any real influence on the band. It's a one man show, when it comes to the records.

Martin Lopez was beyond coked out in his final days with the band. The last time I saw him perform it was embarrassingly out of time, and then following day I read he was replaced by Gene Hoglan the next show.

Their current drummer is one of the best additions to the band. Real talented. When i saw them play at the House of Blue like two years ago it was tons of fun because they were playing loads of old material for their 20th anniversary. Rather then it being some lame nostalgic, "he let's play all the songs we don't actually care about anymore" set, the band was full of zeal because drummer put so much energy into the old songs.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jan 19,2012 10:38am
see i felt that House of Blues show was really lackluster. Martin Axenrot is a death metal drummer, and he is so out of place in that band. i felt that the Latin flair of Lopez brought that music to life. though i will agree that his few last performances were awful. as far as i am concerned Opeth died in a plane crash after Ghost Reveries and the members were replaced by a bunch of hacks.
