Children Of Bodom, They looked like every other band, played like every other band and their keyboardist was taking a break as usual drinking backstage while the band played. Beleive me, you missed nothing. Iced Earth was good.

toggletoggle post by easyed_69 at May 2,2004 2:19am
ahhhh dude, I'm so pissed off about the black out because blood has been shed cancelled, and the rest of the bands that played had to play shorter sets to catch up to the schedule.

Yeah, that fight that broke out in the parking lot was funny to watch, cause some big dude was filming the whole thing and ended up punching one of the girls in the face.

Oh, and Terror kicked so much ass. Every time they've come around Boston, I've always ended up missing them, but I finally saw them and I wasn't disappointed.

Oh, and btw, thanks Rev for taking some awesome pics of MPB. You seemed to get the pics right before I was about to get my ass kicked.

I'm in the white btw, about to get stomped on and I fucked up my knee. It sucked, but fun nonetheless

toggletoggle post by scar culture at May 2,2004 2:56am

Iced earth was the best band tonight!!

toggletoggle post by moran   at May 2,2004 5:40am
My friend called to tell the power went out. Serves the place right for putting on such a terrible show. I had more fun sitting at a bar and watching the Red Sox lose two games in one day.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 2,2004 5:47am

first stage
what weapons bring war: the crowd was just getting in for them. they started right when the doors opened. A crowd of friends rushed in. it was great to see them. I saw dave's white bass sitting there and figured I'd be ducking a flying bass, but it didn't happen. he threw it at the back of the stage. didn't even swing it around at all.

glass casket: I had a discussion whether or not glass casket sounded more like btbam or coverge-ish. After seeing them live, it sounds more like converge, but there are parts that the singer talks through. I had been upset cause their last tour didn't come through this was, but they played nemhf and they are coming back.

since the flood: moved form the second stage late to the first stage early. good thing too as toby needed to leave early to make it to his mom's wedding! this was their first time hitting one of these stages. they put out a lot of energy. all the 603 kids in the pit went nuts and jumped up to sing along. they even had time to do cover song.

misery signals: their live set has gotten a lot different over their 2 years. they definitly knew how to own that stage.

martyr ad: little rob g could have been out drumming and touring with them. a lot of the kids in the audience seemed to know all the words. I'm not familiar enough to know from the CD.

cannae: dan's last show I guess... I'm not sure though cause they are going off to ohio on tour. they sounded awesome. totally in their element down there. and is that a the_network shirt I see? maybe they'll bust out a fault song.

Black out!!!!!!: what were you doing during the blackout of nemhf 2004? evergreen terrace/scarlet started to set up, then *snap* went the power. completely out. At first everyone was just kicked out of the upstairs.. then downstairs and everyone was out on the streets. A bunch of the hardcore kids started to play dodgeball which reminded me of that south park episode. After 3 hours of lounging in and out of the sun, walking around the building a bunch of times, making fun of uranium, trips to the mall, watching all that remains playing frisbee, and more... the power mysteriously came back on. This basically cut down all the bands sets and with 3 cancellation (blood has been shed, speedkillhate, and evergrey), they went mostly back onto scedule. it made it very hard for a while there when were 15-minute sets. I was running from stage to stage for a whle there, even more than usually... it made me miss most songs of a lot of amazing bands though...

back to the band reviews...

evergreen terrace: I've always liked these guys. a lot of stage presense and sense of humor. you can definitly tell that from the fact that they cover U2.

misery index: last time I saw this band on that same stage, they were still new and didn;t know what to do up there. now, they move around an aweful lot and it makes the show so good.

bury your dead: from what you can see, there are a lot of 603 and mass kids rocking and rolling in the audience.

kataklysm: not much time for their set. though they played older tracks. I mean... they played in shadows and dust so how can you complain?

walls of jericho: damn it! I was ustairs too long at terror so I got down to get 1 1/2 songs from woj. that one song will have to fill me until they come back. their songs are so short on cd and such epics live.

between the buried and me: anyone notice the drummer messing up on the track mordecai? I was singing a long so I got that. I was singing a long so I caught it.

diecast: ok, saw whatever you want about them, but their live show was pretty awesome. and guess what? I know a lot more diecast songs than I knew I did. I like the new singer better. His clean singing voice is a lot more raw then the old singer so I can take them. with the short set, they still ended with a cover over reign in blood complete with all the sound effects too. there was some huge fight as all the security guards jumped into the crowd. at one point a guy popped up from the crowd like 10 feet and landed at the from of the crowd.

throwdown: I stil don't really like them (I'd rather listen to terror or hatebreed), but their live shows full of a lot of energy.

zao: finally getting to see these guys. damn, about time. I'm sadly, I'm not sure which singer they are one now, but it sounded a lot like the old stuff. they also didn't play stuff from that rock-crap cd.

bleeding through: what can you say about their set? they are awesome and go by sooooo quickly. Also, I get addicated to their cds after seeing them live.

children of bodom: they came in with a dr. dimento song. the sound was pristin for them. it was all 100% absolutely on and all mixed right. weird, there were actually fights.

iced earth: decent live. I really do not like most of their tracks, but the live show was killer. EVERYONE in the audience was singing a long and i mean EVERYONE. it was power metal, but patriotic. the guitrist (john) sent "green face" out to all the troops. the echos on the singers vocals where hillarious. they were having problems with the computer so they couple play the last track. then they played some other tracks, but I left.

second stage
the autumn offering: I ran upstairs to catch a few songs by these guys. they were pretty awesome. Reminded me a little of the bled mixed with love is red.

through the discipline: I listened to their MP3s a long time ago when they posted them on this board. I've been waiting to see them (almost drove 4 hours to see them once). the sounded great. old school metal riffs all over.

love is red: even though they were put up against STF on the other stage, thier crowd was pretty damn violent. It's nice seeing them not on a stage at a fest playing before the doors are open.

to the grave: the new songs on the new CD are longer. I love seeing the singer doing kicks all over the stage.

twelve tribes: I've only heard of these guys a little before. never heard them. the singer had some crazy dreds.

embrace today: like most other ET shows, they were pretty tight which you'd expect from them. anyone else find it funny that the singer told people from the bar to come up, but then went off about edge? eh, I gets edge kids could be there drinking water/soda.

BLACK OUT (see black out review above)

scarlet: long time to set up even after the black out. the singer did his usual thing of covering up people's camera's while they are trying to take pictures. they started off and it was a wall of sound. a very punishing bang some times. one of their last songs was carbon copy killer, one of their best tracks. did they have a new guitarist?

scar culture: I got back up and basically only caught one track from them. they are awesome, check the limited pictures I could get.

100 demons: damn, their pits are always violent. I'm not sure how many people got pulled out, but I saw some security pulling them out. they played some new songs. after listening to the cd a few times, they are definitly harder and heavier live. I think the singer was really into the music, so much I think he had goose-bumps while singing.

the comeback kid: pulling in a younger "american nightmare" crowd, they had the audience rolling al over each other. it really reminded me of the AN show there.

terror: take the comback kid audience and add the 100 demons audience and there you got it. a ton of people dancing very violently and having a great time doing it. terro doesn't come around here very often, but when they do, they get a killer response. I think that someone needs to do another ramallah/terror show.

pig destroyer: 3 years, 3 metalfest on that stage. basically the only time that anyone around here gets to see them unless they are driving to ny or nj. they messed up a few times cause of the drummer. if they played AnB songs after I left... I'll be pissed.

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 2,2004 7:17am
That's funny, this show was so terrible, yet I and like 2000 other people had a great time.

As for the blackout, what can you do? It's not like the venue had any control over it, and a couple other places were without power too.

I think I was the only person that didn't eat something during the blackout, haha. I wanted to go to Pub 99 but all my friends had already eaten, so then I went over to a bar with Mike Hsu from WAAF and Phil from All That Remains, then when I came back we played football haha. I certainly didn't want to be standing there but like I said, what can you do? Oh yeah and I got yelled at by one of Juliya's entourage for taking pictures haha...

toggletoggle post by filterofsyntax at May 2,2004 8:47am
During the blackout I played wiffleball in the parking lot near the broken bulding.

toggletoggle post by Lynneaus  at May 2,2004 8:58am
a couple o facts about things...

the black out was an electrical problem w/ Mass electric.... a lot of ppl thought it wasnt true because other places around had power... but there were other parts of worcester that didnt have power... remember the old fire station down the street? the palladium was switched to that grid so that when power went out it would get fixed right away... with the station gone apparently it doesnt get fixed as fast.... but trust me everyone... including the detail officers were doing everything they could to get it fixed as fast as they could.

SpeedKillHate cancelled before the fest even started day one.... im not sure why... but my friend told me friday mornin when he got here they werent playing.

Children of Bodoms bus broke down in CT... Evergrey sacrificed their bus so COB could make it... i would have rather seen Evergrey :(

at this years fest i watched a total of 4 bands entire sets.

eh i like metal fest weekend but man i hope next year there are some bands i really want to see

toggletoggle post by joe_shmo at May 2,2004 9:07am
Their fualt or not, the Palladium has always has electrical problems. They need to get off their lazy asses and get those problems fixed. Fuck man! It's been 4 years and they still are having black outs. I saw Moonspell there when they first toured america and the power cut out on them something like 6 times, a pal of mine who was there video taped the whole thing. That same friend went there to see Nightwish a couple of years ago and the power cut out on them too. Fuck The Palladium.

toggletoggle post by Lynneaus  at May 2,2004 9:53am
maybe you should know what you are talking about before you bash the place....

they had electricians come in and rewire the stuff earlier in the year just so that the breaker wouldnt overheat and switchoff during metal fest

toggletoggle post by succubus  at May 2,2004 10:02am edited May 2,2004 10:05am
more facts from moi:
aaron (the_reverend) and i didn't eat during the blackout either. First we tried to go into a pub but they may have lost power too, and then we ordered something and were going to walk back and eat it by the palladium but as we were walking back, we got the call that the power was back..i had a few bites in between bands after the fact.
it was really nice of them (to say the least~Evergrey~for sacrificing their tour bus...i told aaron right after you told me that yesterday Lynne.
Sucks that they couldn't share.
Juliya tried to molest my little brother so aaron and i couldn't find him during the blackout!

once again asking people to do portrait shots was a lot of fun..no one said no...except that Brian (Shadows Falls) and his gf were drinking and wanted to finish their drinks first...and i didn't catch them after that.

i will add that Rachel (Most precious blood) is the best and so nice, every time i see her, it's like we're old friends...she rules.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at May 2,2004 10:06am edited May 2,2004 10:07am
oh yeah..rather than me continiously editing..i don't see how the outage was the palladium's fault..it made it an interesting event
and aaron thank you for helping me<3

Whoops, last one was me.

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 2,2004 11:14am
Honestly, I've been going to shows at the Palladium for the last three years, like, A LOT, and this is the first time I've EVER seen the power go out like that. Maybe for a minute or two once or twice (in three years), but nothing like that.

I guess there was an article about the blackout in today's Worcester Telegram and Gazette (haven't seen the paper yet) because my mom was asking me about it a little while ago. Apparently over 100 households and businesses in the area lost power. The Palladium just happened to be one of them...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 2,2004 11:24am
I found the gazette's web site...
man falls out of rollarcoaster:
http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040502/APN/405020510

I found articles online about the perfect circle show and some other bs... but no black out article.

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 2,2004 11:50am
Right because it's in the actual newspaper...

toggletoggle post by intricateprocess   at May 2,2004 12:51pm
the power outage definatley sucked....oh well, what are you gonna do......shit happens. i think the palladium sucks too...........but i cant really complain too much because guess what? they are like on of the only places that books shows around, and can hold a pretty decent size crowd to bring in big headlining bands......
i was pretty bummed that ed gein cancelled.....but at least psyopus played....

toggletoggle post by succubus  at May 2,2004 1:16pm
i don't understand why people seem pissed at the palladium or why they are getting bitched out ...when they put on a lot of shows...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 2,2004 1:18pm
I must say, the staff at the palladium did an awesome job. there were tons of issues with things breaking down, power going out, bands cnncelling, computers not working, people bitching about retarded things, etc...
all the people that put this fest on made it run pretty damn smoothly around all the issues. Sylvia, Scott Lee, Leah, and everyone else running the doors and stuff made sure that things went excellently.
so the power issue wasn't the palladium's fault.
so we were all forced to kick around for 3 hours and get sun instead of being at home writing in our live journals about how cool wendy's is or figuring out through tests which smurf, snork, or emotion you are.
the show must go on and I for one got to see a shit load of awesome bands.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at May 2,2004 1:21pm
yes what aaron said

ps to aaron: i heard that noise

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 2,2004 2:03pm
Aaron hit the nail right on the head. I don't understand why everyone is complaining. I had a great time, even during the outage. It definitely dampened the vibe for a little while, but things got kicking again and it was an awesome show...

I'm supposed to be on my way to CBGB's but after two softball games this morning, I am wiped out!!!

That was a long fucking weekend. And for everyone crying about us "supporting such a terrible fest"....I had a press pass and snuck someone in, so stop leaving me IMs revoking my metal points. [Joe]

This fest was great for hardcore fans, I am not one so I spent a lot of time waiting for the handful of metal bands. BUT I had a good fucking time hanging out, seeing people I only see at metalfests like friends in distros and people like Charlie goddamn Lyons.

It was a pleasure to be shoved, tripped and trampled by the rev in the picture pit, and thanks a million Tom for fixing my camera!

The blackout was funny, I didn't miss anyone I gave a shit about so I had a good laugh at all the fashioncore kids having hissy fits outside. I was paid back for my assholeness however because Evergrey's set was cut completely due to bus trouble and MassConcerts sucking my girlballs.

Lastly, fuck Iced Earth. Ripper Owens is the worst vocalist ever, the new album sucks and Jon Schaffer is a douchebag.

cannae: fauuuuuuuuult! ooooookla!

Black out!!!!!!: wanted to see blood has been shed but the power went out. I went outside soon after and walked around looking for people i knew. got a hot dog. Ate on the band side of the palladium because it was in the shade. Sat there pretty much the entire time... I saw a huge mic above peoples head so I went down to see what it was and it was that Juliya girl from uranium... I took a picture of her as she was walking towards me and the next thing you know I'm surrounded by like 4 huge cameras and her tiny one stuck in my face. Totally unprepared I answered her questions as lame as possible. A BJ would have been nice instead of the interview.

misery index: finally some shit I wanted to see. They were pretty sick, but the guitars were not very audible.

bury your dead: good at getting the crowd riled up, and getting people to hurt eachother. musically it's definetly not something I would ever listen too.

kataklysm: finally again, was looking foreward to this. I did notice his guitar was sorta cutting out at certain frequencies... possibly his wireless battery was dying. Also the Left PA stack was also cutting out for the rest of the show.

walls of jericho: came out with a lot of energy, kinda fun to watch the chick run around and do poppy dances. She told everyone to jump over the kids in the front and one kid in the front called her a cunt and she said something over the PA after that I couldn't make out.

between the buried and me: pretty good live... the guitarist on the right was pretty good at arpeggios and sweeps.

diecast: same old diecast I've seen a million times since they started though were much better in those days except with a new singer. I always say the drummer is too good for this band. I think i'll stick with that statement.

throwdown: you suck, I can't believe I had to sit through your set AGAIN.

zao: 2nd time seeing them, wish they picked more of the older songs to play.

bleeding through: um, lots of energy, but it was sorta boring... couldn't really hear the keyboards (which seems to always be the case when the person isn't doing much)

children of bodom: now here's some real keyboard action. faaaaaacken sick once again. wish they could have played much much longer! got a picture with alex right as he walked off the stage. \m/

iced earth: finally saw this guys since listening to them since 1998. kinda cool... barlow's vocals fit the mix much better than ripper. the music was still there though. I wonder if richard christy is going to be on howard stern's show or not as a replacement for stuttering john?

any lynneaus, who was the guy in the wheelchair? that shit was depressing to see. I think I saw him in front of the palladium in like 2000 or something.

Where are the tours those death/grind bands are on? If they weren't remotely near New England how the hell can they be booked?

Seriously, everyone has bitched and moaned and groaned about this show more than anything I've ever seen in my life. What if they got In Flames to come over a few days early to start their tour with Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying.... oh wait, that show is coming to the Palladium on it's own in a month. Maybe they should have had the ENTIRE Morbid Angel tour re-route itself just for this one fest? The only other "metal" band they really could have added was Obituary, but I guess that didn't work out for them.

As for the Evergrey thing, how is THAT the Palladium's fault? From what I understand, Children of Bodom's bus broke down and Evergrey gave up there's so that COB could make it. Which band was more important in the grand scheme of things? Evergrey or COB? Listening to the chants going on last night, I think I am going to go with COB, but regardless, the Palladium didn't make COB's bus break down just like they didn't make the power go out for three hours...

I agree with intricateprocess's statement in so much as I would have liked to have seen commit suicide play metalfest at some point. Or get disgorge up here again. there are a bunch of amazing large deathgrind bands on willowtip and others that would come up for a show for like $100.
but that didn't happen so I'm not going to bitch about it.

hopefully next year will be more like NJMHF last november when TONS of band tour crossed over and the second stage is packed with a large assortment.

what time did the second stage end last year? it seemed really early this year... I remember a few years ago (4?) when it went to 12-1am-ish. last year, I swear it went to atleast 9.

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 2,2004 6:27pm
Well, that's all a matter of opinion. I had a great time, and I know a lot of other people that feel the same way. Maybe there could have been some bigger, "better" bands, but I guarentee that a lot of the bands that played this year will be much "bigger" this time next year...

Not that I really care, but this fest hasn't been good since maybe the first two in my opinion. Why should a band have to be touring to play? I'm sure a band like Commit Suicide would just drive up and play if they had the oppurtunity. Why couldn't Watchmaker play? Circle Of Dead Children? It all has to do with politics, ass kissing, and other lame antics. If thats the way it's going to be, fine. If you go to these fests, you should know what it's like by now, and you have no right to bitch. Thats why I don't go anymore, I know it's not for me. So the rest, have fun, I'm sure you did.

why wouldn't they put any Willow Tip bands on the bill. It would of been totally killer to see Arsis, since I just fell in love with them

Yeah, this show was fun, but dissapointing. For one thing, I had to go by myself...so for the major part I had no one to talk to. I tried to find conversations with some people to kill the time, but not many of the hip cats what to talk to a goofy lookin 16 year old. It really sucked during the black out. I played 2 rounds of dodge ball though. Watched the girl fight. The one really hardcore chick, laid the most solid kung fu punch to this other girl's face, it was awasome. Some of the kids were real dicks though. Like when the dad was trying to get the girls out of the fight, one of them just straight out kicked him in the head. Sure at first I laughed, but then kinda felt bad for the dude.

As for the tunes, I'm really more of a metal guy. I mostly wanted to see Between and the Buried and Me though, I noticed the mess up too rev, as I was singing along too. Kataklysm did a great set, and Children of Bodom were great.

btw, don't be hating on air guitar man

the 100 Demons set was crazy, Diecast was fun, Zao were neat as were WoJ. I think I can pretty much reconize a bunch of you peoples now.

This just in from Blabbermouth:

"ARCH ENEMY Pull Out of MACHINE HEAD Tour - May 2, 2004

ARCH ENEMY have officially dropped off the MACHINE HEAD U.S. tour and have returned home to Sweden, sources close to the MACHINE HEAD camp have confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

The Swedish quintet were originally slated to start the tour with MACHINE HEAD on April 28 in Philadelphia but ended up postponing the kick-off date by a couple of days, citing "problems in obtaining a replacement U.S. visa" in Germany for singer Angela Gossow — an excuse that our sources now say was "a complete lie."

Although ARCH ENEMY made it to the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival in time for their performance on Friday, a supposed "throat infection" suffered by Gossow "forced" the group to pull out of the entire tour on Saturday — in the process pissing the MACHINE HEAD camp off royally.

ARCH ENEMY have yet to officially confirm their departure from the trek. A statement from MACHINE HEAD on the matter is expected to arrive later today. "

So it looks like they came over just to play this show...

but cry me a fucking river.... you saw the damn lineup before the fest.... if you didnt want to see all those bands DONT GO.

there are some of the lamest rumors in this thread and i wont even justify them by dispelling them because they are entirely ridiculous.

yes there are a lot of puerto ricans in worcester (actually in worcester public schools P.R's are the majority), yes people "cruise the strip" friday and saturday night, racing and reving their engines, but how is this news to anyone????? did you just move from another part of the world??? i mean fuck even my friends from canada know the score about worcester....but like me, they also know that the palladium is one of the best run venues around, with some really amazing people who work there.

ive been to clubs and various venues all over the east coast and canada.... and the palladium is one of the best...and im not alone in that sentiment....

Compared to other clubs, the palladium is definitely better kept and more crowd friendly, but the acts that they book for the most part are horrible, and even with good headliners, they'll manage to open the show with a band that has nothing to do with them musically just because it's the music that the booking guy likes.

Here is Machine Head's statement about Arch Enemy dropping off:

MACHINE HEAD Issue Statement Regarding ARCH ENEMY Tour Cancellation - May 3, 2004

MACHINE HEAD have issued the following tongue-in-cheek "statement" regarding ARCH ENEMY's decision to pull out of "Weapons Of Mass Destruction" U.S. tour:

"In what came as a complete shock to the MACHINE HEAD camp, perennial support act ARCH ENEMY have informed headliners MACHINE HEAD that they must pull out of the entire Weapons Of Mass Destruction tour because singer Angela Gossard [sic] broke a fingernail which had recently been through a vigorous French manicure.

"Citing work visa problems and strained vocals to the media, the troubles began for the German vixen when, upon raising her devil horns for the 349th time during ARCH ENEMY's bizarre performance at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, her fingernail got caught in what could only be described as a metal-horned catastrophe. The members of MACHINE HEAD instinctively rushed to her aid, offering her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, after which the ever-benevolent MH boys granted the openers permission to miss a handful of shows while she recovered from what the metal diva claimed was 'an extremely painful broken nail'. Unfortunately, word came from their management and booking agent today that the nail would need emergency manicuring and that only the best French manicurist in all of Sweden could perform the repair, thus resulting in the bands' inability to complete the entire remainder of the tour.

"To the relief of no one in particular, not a single ticket holder asked for a refund."

You gotta admit, that is pretty funny, and it seems like there is more to this than a throat infection. I heard a rumor that Arch Enemy thought they were headlining this tour...

I love the music I listen to, and it moves me to the point of banging my head, throwing in some air guitar, and even some air drums. and I have long hair, and I shower too.

There wasn't that many stinky people at the fest, at least not the first day. there definatly were a few tho. I missed the second day because we were in a motel 2 miles away and my friends wanted to just party all day and night, so after the first day, we partied untill 4, got up at 2:45pm, and partied untill 6:00 the next morning. I regret not seeing misery index because I really wanted to see them, but I allready have seen all the other bands I would have wanted to see saturday.

I tried to hang out with two dykes friday night but I somehow offended them, what happened was when the pit closed in on me and the brunette we fended off the bodies fairly well, and after the song I said, "We fended them off pretty well huh?" and she said "what?" so I repeated what I said, and she said something to the blonde she was with, then the song started and I said to the brunette, "C'mon, let's get em!" and she grabbed her friend's hand and they walked off. :( Where the hell did I go wrong??!!??

You kids crack me up. So much bitching about the hardcore kids and how "tough" they are. Then, you go home on your computer and type how much tougher you are than they are, and how you will fight them, but where were you then? Why don't you say something when it is going down? Oh, because you'll get your ass kicked. Another note, why would you stand near the pit if you don't want to be hurt? Just move away, the Palladium is huge.

So the rest, have fun, I'm sure you did.

toggletoggle post by thelastgreatwhitehope at May 4,2004 8:10am
Watchmaker would have destroyed that fuckin shithole. but if i was them, i wouldn't want my name to be associated with all those shit bands. It mine as well have been a rap festival. rap beats with guitars. any retard can do that. this fest sucked. i knew what i was in for though. i saw the few bands i wanted to see and then i was on my merry way. anybody else notice the shit music in between sets?

Ok let me state I respect the hardcore kids for wanting to support there bands but they don't seem to respect the metalheads want to headbang or have a real mosh pit. It's no fun anyone for the metal kids that have to sit there and watch the hardcore kids punch and kick there again when we wanna get in there and push around each other w/o getting kicked in the balls. I think this years fest could of been alot better and they should of asked the boys from Shadows Fall to play they were walking around the fest all sat.

there is a difference between moshing and blatnatly ganging up on one person and stomping them. i never said hardcore kids are tough, granted that there are a few actually tough ones, but for the most part they are little pussies that are more concerned with feigning toughness than actually enjoying the band that is playing. and the hardcore scene is GAY for the most part (not only because i think most hardcore is just generic, open stringed chug chug, old school punk part into chug chug part again with a lame build up with some "catchy" phrase about unity being said right before the breakdown starts.

hardcore scene is GAY because:
1) you fucking wear GIRLS pants. hows your nads, or lack-there-of, feel you faggots?
2) everyone has the same gay army hat.
3) you fight for no fucking reason and even then you dont even really fight
4) every band has the same breakdown
5) you wear fucking GIRLS pants
6) i know that the girls pants thing doesnt apply to the "tough guy" hardcore people... but yeah, ganging up and beating on one person at a time is pretty fucking gay.
7) lame hardcore antics ruin clubs (Middle East anyone?)
8) hardcore is still around.

that is all. and yes, i hate the metal scene too. die.

I think that was intentional.

And I still maintain that Neil Diamond sounds WAY too much like Weird Al Yankovic at times.

toggletoggle post by Wraithious  at May 4,2004 6:42pm
Yeah, I too noticed the gay interval music they had on. pretty lame.

Hey Joe, I remember those girls, especially the blonde with her thong sticking out of her pants, she was fucking HOT HOT HOT!!! She wanted you too I think ;)

Remember that time at Jarrods with the chick with purple hair and a pink half shirt that said CUNT on it? she was fucking hot too, I haven't seen her around anywhere recently tho, how's she doing anyway? (I can't remember if it was you or Mike that knows her)

Hardcore Broken down:
1.) Chug Chug (gap) Chug Chug (kid began to kick the air)
2.) The Have The Army/Bennie hat Tipped to the side
3.) Pants pulled down a pit to show there boxers
4.) Wearing some Tan wicked tight shirt that has some unknown band on it
5.) "Girl" pants
6.) Lyrics Such as "They Will Punch we down but I stand tall over them they will not make me fall" in about everyone of there songs.
7.) Fans who love to punch and kick they air

#Mike#

Why does every thread turn into the inevitable hardcore vs. metal fight. Its been done 1000x, and nothing will change. Its like that stupid story about Mayhem, its so tired, and old. We all know what happens, every argument, every rebuttle, every refutation. Lets all give up on it, please. For the sake of reading something interesting, lets talk about other things.

I thought the fest was awesome, especially because of the blackout. I just thought it was kind of gay how on the first day, headliners Killswitch Engage got their set cut because Mahcine head took 30 minutes to set up, but even with a blackout Iced Earth still had to play a 2 hour set. I mean, I dig Iced Earth but it sucked for the other bands. I really wanted to see BtBaM but only got 3 songs. I was just alittle disappointed.

toggletoggle post by JellyFish at May 5,2004 9:06pm
why the hell did you enjoy the blackout? It eliminated the purpose of going to a show altogether.
