Heading down soon. I've discovered that I like Red Bull somewhat...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 12:21pm
red bull is like drinking crushed up smarties. hm...

drugs of faith: - 11:45 - 12:05 they were good, but it's too early right now to care about music. My brain has it's musical eyes on the prize, bolt thrower. they seemed a little awkward to be playing on a stage.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 1:29pm
maruta: - 12:20 - 12:40 they sounded so much better than the ob's show last week. They played better too. Even with the plug to their head amp rocking out.

Pretty Little Flower (PLF): - 12:55 - 1:15 I love how that their songs are sooo short that every 3 songs they can have a group meeting on stage and it doesn't affect their set time at all. They sounded excellent, backed up by a crowd of txans.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 2:04pm
unearthly trance: - 1:30 - 1:55 that singer must really hate that microphone. The way he sings just makes me believe he hates it whole heartily. Like all the other bands, they sounded perfect through that system.

Today seems a little slow to start. The crowd who is here is buying merch like crazy.

toggletoggle post by badsneakers at May 23,2009 3:51pm
I can't figure out what's going on with the indoor line up. Where is rotten sound??

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at May 23,2009 3:57pm
I need to kick myself for missing Weekend Nachos today, fuuuuck.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 4:05pm
rotten sound is setting up.

crowpath: - 2:10 - 2:40 they were really good in allston, but I expect more out of them. More off red on chrome. They played like the same songs. This is one of those willowtip bands that I never figured would make it over here.

flesh parade: - 2:55 - 3:25 probably one of the most exciting bands on the bill for me. I love their 7"'s. I ould lay them all over my bed, their 7"'s that is and roll around on them if it wouldn't hurt their playability that is. The set's only down side was that they started when I was outside and started with coping with it so I missed that song. People got into it too which made the set all the better.

weekend nachos: - 3:40 - 4:00 short set. Very very short. They were good and grindy. I didn't know what to expect, but they were good.
Some people in the audience didn't like them very much. As people circle pitted, they yelled things about weekend nachos sucking and getting hit. this definitely wasn't their typical venue. a basement show with them would rule.

Yeah I was one of those people who didn't like weekend nachos very much

rotten sound: - 4:15 - 4:50 after seeing them do the same songs 3 times in one week, you would think I would be sick of them.. Naw. They were excellent. Best sound of all the shows. The crowd was fairly crazy for them.

hail of bullets: - (outside) 4:45 - 5:30 once again that same voice of pestilence plus a history lesson before each and every single song. Their set was awesome sounding. The perfect way to start the second stage.

brutal truth: - (outside) 5:45 - 6:25 most of the old school stuff that I like they played at the end of their set. I was running in and out at that point since misery index was about to play. Very silly performance.

misery index: - 6:15 - 6:50 they delivered a full set. No eys poked out or nothing. I can see why the outside stage is running a few minutes early. The moment MI started there was a mini-exodus away from brutal truth to MI inside.

immolation: - (outside) 6:40 - 7:25 one of the catchy dm bands in the world. They played a running hits or best of, playing one song off each of their CDs. Er.. Releases since some of them were originally not on CD.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 7:37pm
birdflesh: - 7:05 - 7:40 I don't understand why people go so apeshit for them. Is it the same way that people are apeshit for B movies? That's how I see it. They wore dresses and the only one I recognized was the drummer. Some how a ton of glowsticks got tossed around. They didn't get naked. Oh well. Next year.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 8:33pm

atheist: - 7:40 - 8:25 they played a new track.. That was kind of weird... I always consider this band deceased after 2 awesome album. 2 awesome ground breaking albums. They also played as atheist and one of their kids. I think that the bassist from gnastic was on second guitar. I would have taken more pictures of them, but I was shoed off the roof. This was a band that I was extremely excited for and I wasn't really let down (besides maybe the new song).

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 9:13pm
pig destroyer: - 8:10 - 8:40 these guys are headlining material. They had another song on their set list. Oh well. The keyboardist hit me twice with water. It felt refreshing. They had that cheerleader sample. I love that they can do samples now. they sort of did headline since there was a huge pause on tha stage after them.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at May 23,2009 11:21pm
I really hope Atheist plays next year.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 23,2009 11:29pm
Thid is one of the best parts of the night and I will tell you why, at this point everything for the evening is a done deal and you see behind the scene celebrity hosts ryan and evan sitting back and enjoying themselves. The time to worry about everything is way passed. Personally if I did this... I mean just looking out from the stage at a scene out of a european festival gives me goosebumps. I hope the pictures off the stage of ND and BT give you a scale to measure this show by.

napalm death: - 8:40 - 9:25 up on stage there was a lot more (better) highend. Towards thed back of the room, that was kind of gone. It was all the low end, but it still sounded amazingly clear. They even played for a perfect amount of time. Barney was on a bit of a short leash there with that stage.

bolt thrower: - 9:40 - 11:00 there was a bit of a wait for BT to go on. Since the crowd-surfiness of the attendees was amped up, they only let photogs in front for 2 songs which was really technically 4-ish songs. It was perfection. Their intro can in with choppers revving their engines behind the stage as a back drop. I snapped a shot of te set list and even that was perfection. This is one of the only bands in the world that doesn't really turn out any garbage. 15 years is a long time to wait for a band to come to th US. Thus was so worth it. I ran on stage the minute they finished and snapped shots of people chanting for more.

I hope atheist plays my room later. serious they rule, but what happened with the one more show in NYC and then they were done.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 24,2009 2:30am

the outdoor stage is uploading nizzow.

toggletoggle post by VESGORENLI at May 24,2009 10:42am
the sound for the beginning outdoor bands fucking BLEW, which included brutal truth. i am not certain what really was the fuckin issue with that, but it kinda sucked seeing BT with such bad sound-age. However it seemed to be much better when Napalm played, which was fucking crucial. slurpies from 7-11 are killing my throat...and dicks in my mouth

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 24,2009 1:05pm
dicks are ruining a lot of things, the mouth being the least of those things.

phobia: - 11:00 - 11:30 weird crowd for them. Everyone was wiped from bolt thrower. I guess their real drummer didn't com out for this so they almost didn't play. Would it be an mdf with out thhem?

general surgery: - 11:45 - 12:25 all new members? At least a new singer. The drummer from birdflesh. The other guys from sayydinia (sp?). The set kicked some ass. Nurses Covered in blood walked around the crowd making things more bloody. These guys definitely have the most interesting splatter patterns. Like I told someone, a GS set was what I expected when I saw carcass instead of the corporate rock show that I saw instead.

Wolves In The Throne Room: - 12:40 - end of night. Wolves in the tired room. Wolves in an unlit throne room. They sounded killer, had candles, but I needed sleep/picture time. This show they got to lite candles and spent more time keeping the candles lit than sound checking.

toggletoggle post by EmptyWords at May 25,2009 3:31pm
I think there was a misunderstanding... Atheist didnt play a new song. Kelly was introducing Mineral, and said something about it being a "new one" to the new fans... judging from ur earlier statement u didnt like elements which is probably why u didnt recognise Mineral...

set list was:

Unquestionable Presence
On They Slay
Mineral
Unholy War
Retribution
Air
Mother Man
Piece of Time

(set was cut short so Psychic Saw and Incarnation's Dream dropped)

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 25,2009 6:41pm
would I be a total pussy if I admitted that piece of time is the only atheist that I know/have?

toggletoggle post by madeofmetal  at May 25,2009 10:38pm
Earplugs cut out too much high end, which kind of defeats the purpose of that band. Couldn't hear a damn thing after that... but they were absolutely incredible!
