New site? Maybe some day.

The Simpsons had their run, they should be put down like a fuckin' old dog with bad hips. They should have quit while they were ahead 5-7 years ago - in my shitty opinion, that is.... |
No comparison -- Family Guy is a unfunny bad rip-off of the Simpsons. |
while I find a lot of it hilarious, I've never been a huge fan of The Simpsons
I love me some Family Guy...although I must say, they might be beginning to run out of good ideas a little bit...an example of this is in the new episode that aired this past Sunday they recycled the Conway Twitty joke they did a few seasons ago, and then proceeded to play a full video of a Conway Twitty song...to me, that means they're looking to fill time when they can't think of anything funny and/or new |
my biggest complaint about family guy is what rusty mentioned. the first time they did the conway twitty thing, it was ok because it was unexpected and short. seeing it in the new episode for 5 minutes was horrible. family guy has gotten really bad about recycling jokes too many times and making jokes go on way too long. a few episodes ago, they had stewie make a music video covering a bryan adams song. they played the whole fucking song and aside from a few funny things happening in the music video, it was boring. |
also, i hope peter never fights the chicken again. that joke got boring after the first few times and is more boring than ever now that they do it at least once a season (or so it seems). |
...or the chicken fight thing...the first time was funny, the second was amusing.....every time since just seemed over the top and recycled |
haha...great minds think alike |
Futurama > Family Guy > South Park > American Dad > Simpsons
i still like em' all though
The South Park spoof of Family Guy was funnier than Family Guy itself.
"Hey Brian, this is like the time I got a job as a carrot cake." |
Simpsons in their prime = no competition |

Simpsons in their prime = no competition |
oh of course but that was like 5 seasons ago. |
I loved South Park originally, but for like 5 seasons now they just seem to me to be increasingly more and more formulaic.....so does Family Guy for that matter
the South Park spoof of Family Guy seemed pretty bitter...at least in my view |
Reimroc, that is true, but all of the other animated comedies, including the newer seasons of The Simpsons can't touch the golden years . I'm not a big South Park fan, not that I think it's bad, but I just don't got out of my way to watch it. Family Guy is definitely the epitome of formulaic. |

it did seem bitter but at least they hid it(somewhat) behind a message of free speech. |
Family Guy tries too hard to be absurd, which is why I think the South Park spoof was dead on. |

which is also another reason why SP is awesome because they always were and always will be over the top with every story they have. |

while I agree that Family Guy tries very hard to be absurd, that was what originally drew me in...the first episode I saw was the one where there was a nuclear winter....the scene where Chris goes "OH NO! IT'S THE GOVERNMENT! RUN E.T. RUN!" and E.T. runs across the screen screaming got me into the show
South Park has always done over the top humor too...one could argue that they do it more intelligently than Family Guy, but it's still absurd nonetheless |
^agreed
Part of the reason why I enjoy watching American Dad. It seems the humor in that show is more intelligently thought up. Still absurd too lol |
KING OF THE HILL, NOW GTFO !!!! |
Beavis n Butthead > everything |
i love old simpsons. some of the new episodes from the past couple years are decent, but for about 5 years before that, it was unwatchable. |
the lead background artists for the simpsons are from chelmsford. this is why springfield town hall looks exactly the chelmsford library.
throw that fun fact out there. but you all probably knew this.
i'm in chelmsford right now. |

i'm in chelmsford right now. |
I though I saw someone creeping around my backyard. It's daylight, buy a flashlight and get off the interphone. Bad robber. |
i was going to sneak in and steal all your laddahlegs demos. |
Family Guy rules
Futurama is almost as good
Simpsons, were pretty good for their first ten years, been real hit or miss in the last ten.
that movie disappointed me soooo much
i left the theater thinking "i waited 18 years for that?" |

Beavis n Butthead > everything |
BACKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

No comparison -- Family Guy is a unfunny bad rip-off of the Simpsons. |
how so?
the only thing family guy has in common with the simpsons, is that it is based on a family of 5, and the father/husband/head of the household is a fat drunk.
other than that, family guy is far funnier and way more original |
Gonna have to agree with orgy. The Simpsons and Family Guy are two completely different shows. The only thing they have in common is the fact they're sitcoms and all sitcoms follow the same structure: opening, funny moments, serious moment, funny moments, moral lesson on said serious moment, ending. |
Family Guy took the Simpson's writing model of inserting pop culture references for the lolz. To me, the Simpson's writers do it better, it doesn't seem forced or crammed in like Family Guy. Granted there are quite a few unfunny Simpsons episodes, but I still will watch Simpsons here and there -- I will not watch FG -- just doesn't do it for me. |
Marge? Kids? Everything's going to be just fine.
Now go upstairs, and pack your bags...we're going to start a new
life UNDER THE SEA!! |

back'd. the shows aren't similar but any simpsons fan (seasonS 3-8 ftw) would notice the obvious ripped off pop culture references. even the whole "adam west is kooky" bit was already done earlier and better, as seen in the mr. plow episode. LINDA RONSTADT OR YOU'RE A PUSSY. |
well, i'll say this much, out of 20 years of the simpsons, i have enjoyed five or six seasons worth of episodes, family guy in it's entire run has not disappointed me once |

This argument is useless, and let me explain why.
You never hear anyone make an argument about which sitcom was funnier between I Love Lucy and Seinfeld. Partially because Seinfeld was hilarious and I Love Lucy was fucking stupid. BUT MOSTLY because the two are from two very different time periods and both did huge things with their representative era.
The Simpsons is still making new episodes, so you might conclude that Family Guy and the Simpsons are of the same point in time, and should be pitted against eachother. However, any real Simpsons fan knows that the show being prostituted as "The Simpsons" in 2009 is total sham.
The last season of the Simpsons that I recognize as true Simpsons is season 9 which began in September of 1997 and ended in March of 1998. This episodes were still funny but included some foreshadowing of what would eventually be the shit show we know in present day. Family Guy made it's debut in January of 1999. The Simpson's was a washed up pile of turds by then, and was dragging Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger into an episode just to fill out the empty dead humorless space. There were talks of pulling the plug on the show, but producers saw the kind of advertising dollars in brought in and low overhead it commanded and continued it for another depressing decade.
While the Simpsons was dying out, South Park picked up the slack. South Park knew that the Simpsons had paved the way for them, and that no matter what they'd be stepping on Matt Groening's toes. They embraced it (as demonstrated by the "Simpson's did it" episode). Family Guy was on the same network with a similar family setup, and a similar premise so retards everywhere insisted that the two had to be jockeying for a throne that didn't exist.
And for those of you who insist on comparing the two, Family Guy may be more random and edgy, but the character development in The Simpsons is something that Family Guy could never (IMO) figure out how to top. |
South Park will always win. |

this is why i cant stand this show. makes me laugh about 3 times per episode, the rest of the time it's either boring or annoying |

All Glory To The Hypnotoad |

this is a dumb poll, The Simpsons and Family Guy are not even remotely alike. one is sheer brilliance, and the other is a completely unfunny pile of garbage. |
hogwash or poppycock? they both sound like they could be gross |
I thought it was a given that hogwash would be gross? The latter, andy capp. |
TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED OR YOU'RE A PUSSY |
But by that logic, gay sex might not be repulsive, but actually enjoyable?
HOGWASH! |
family guy showing that clip of that country singer singing for 4 minutes on sunday was obnoxious and lazy. family guy will never be as funny as the simpsons were at there peak |
I do find family guy funny at times , but shit like that that is just so bad |
family guy showing that clip of that country singer singing for 4 minutes on sunday was obnoxious and lazy. |
i agree one hundred percent, i am so fucking sick of the stupid Conway Twitty cutaway bit.
but, i still love family guy, and i still think it's better than the simpsons.
i can honestly say that i enjoy my least favorite episode of family guy, more than my favorite simpsons episode |
holy shit this show is awesome!
can't believe it was cancelled! |
Drawn Together had some ok moments, but overall it was a total failure. |
I appreciate ultra sketchy behavior and comedy. Drawn Together had that in spades. |
seth mcfarlane is already doing too much with 2 shows he does, and family guy suffers because of it. I think with him doing the cleavlend show it can only get worse and even more lazy. |
