So i have at least a couple squirrels living in my wall. They chewed through the outside wall, and i think are setting up camp to stay warm over the winter. I was thinking about rat poison but then they would die in my wall and stink to unholy heaven. (narky says that rat poison would make them leave in search of water and die out there, but i don't buy it) And i thought about big rat traps (cause squizzels are just big rats with cute furry tails) but the problem with that is that they would probably be just badly maimed and i would have to finish them off... not sure if i would want to do that. I know i could, but i wouldn't enjoy it. I thought about just caulking up the hole, but then if one of them were asleep in there, it would either just chew it's way out, or die in there, resulting in the stank.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Keep in mind, any tactics would have to be well thought out, these are jedi squirrel.

Definitely make sure they don't die in the wall.

WHATEVER YOU DO.

Some of those bastards died in the wall at our practice space, and it was sickening.

I shudder just thinking of it.

yeah, it's gonna be hard, i'm a little worried they are gonna chew through into my apartment.

get nail squirrel "trap" over the hole.. it makes it so they can only get out but they don't get caught.. then get some aluminum coil stock hop up on a ladder and nail it over the other openings with some insulation. they will find the one way out and not be able to get back in.

i actually might have one lying around from an old job... ill look into it

toggletoggle post by frenchman nli at Nov 9,2008 2:31pm
if you trap them make sure you release them a couple of miles away cause those mother fuckers will keep coming back

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Nov 9,2008 3:07pm
yeah alex,if you happened to have one sitting around that would be the shit, if not i can get one. Let me know, and thanks for the advice.

toggletoggle post by sxealex_ at Nov 9,2008 3:19pm
keep it on there for a few weeks then when you take it off put coil stock over that hole too

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 9,2008 3:21pm
I fear that the mice in my house will be like that.
this is the first year that squirrel haven't been an issue and now there are mices.

toggletoggle post by pires at Nov 9,2008 4:02pm
yeah I had to remove the squirrels that murph was alluding to. 4 babies and the mom all died in there. And they went as far as making a nest with old lyrics they found in the ceiling. Fags.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 9,2008 5:04pm
of course after posting that, clomp clomp clomp in the ceiling

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Nov 10,2008 10:08am
yeah, all night last night it was *scratch scratch scratch*. Very irritating. Alex- how am i gonna get it from ya? Boarcorpse is playing in mission hill tonight, so maybe i can come get it from you tomorrow after work? (if you can't come to Boarcorpse by some strange coincidence.

it's a known fact that cayenne pepper gets rid of squirells in an indoor-type situation.
they sell squirell spray to keep them away.. but I think they're mostly made from cayenne pepper.
kill them, cook them and eat them. that's what i'd do anyway.

The cayenne is a good idea, although i have eaten squizzle before, and the meat is REALLY greasy. And Gristly. It's not very good, i would prefer almost any other meat.
