falling asleep...
review in the morning.

I hope chris is ok.
I know I almost slide off the road cause I wasn't able to pull off for my exit. I had to go into marlboro and then turn around.

the snow was outside piling up, but in side club marque the owner was keeping the mics warm with his million of "the bar is open"s and all that other crap that I can never understand when he talks. I'm sure jay (http://theundergroundscene.net) will have some words to say about the show... like how come I go to that place and every single time, they try to tell me photographers have to go upstairs?

bi polar tendencies: they were an opener.. and while I don't like nu-metal... they were ok. Seemed a little new and young so they will get better in time (and realize that nu-metal always gets the thumbs down from me). I just can't take that "lightning crashes" echoey guitar sound.

echelon: I finally was told how to pronounce this bands name. They vocals were super weird and hard to get into at first. Sort of like jake's (converge) vocals when he does that weird talking stuff mixed with screamo type screams. After a few songs, I got used to it though. after 1 or 2 songs, they had a second guitar player.

lucas: wow, since the fall river scene fell apart with the downfall of the PAL and all, I've not seen lucas in a long time. I would say their last song was my favorite from their set. A lot of people filtered out after lucas got off.

the hostage heart: great as usual. no guitar-antics, but a solid performance. Maque's stage is a little too small for them to go crazy. I hope they get a few more songs done and recorded. they only have 4.

and then the "tour" bands started.

bowels of judas: The reminded me of a less-spazzy quell mixed with converge. One of the guitar players jumped around a lot which was cool to try to snap shots of.

haste the day: the singer sounded a lot like zao's singer. they got to a breakdown and the singer said something like "this is a breakdown, we play these so kids can jump around and do windmills" which of course was followed by kids rolling around and cartwheeling.

mercury switch: they stole xchrisx's (thh) dance moves! Though not nearly as many people were there for their set (compared to the last drifter's show) and they had technical difficulties with a chord that stalled them going on. They busted out 4 songs.

so here's the deal. last night around 11.30 or 12, chris and nate and 3 of our friends were in our van driving down webster street in worcester coming back from the show. chris came up over a hill going about 25, and the slush from the unplowed road sucked him in. he slid into the end of a guard rail head on, and it completely smashed the front of the van. nate was sitting in the middle of the back seat and got thrown forward into chris' lap. in the process he smashed his head on the dashboard and the rear view mirror. he has 9 stitches in his forehead and his face is pretty beat up. he also broke his wrist in two spots. everyone else is fine for the most part, but our van is totalled and nate's in rough shape. that's really all there is. shitty stuff....

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Feb 4,2004 10:29am
oh no...so sorry to hear this
but glad everyone will be ok

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 4,2004 10:38am
that completely sucks. I was in a 5mph accident and there was a lot of damage from that.

chris and nate are awesome and I hope they heal well and soon.

toggletoggle post by Mark (Switch) at Feb 4,2004 11:19am
Yea accidents really suck.
The show was ok, we had to go on all late because there was like 8 million bands, so a lot of kids left but its cool. And then I had a problem with my guitar rig, turns out 1 chord was unplugged. So as late as it was at that point thats why we only rocked 4 songs.
We always have fun though. Too bad Sam looks all sassy and flamo in a couple of the pics though :-p
See you tonight at Drifters!
-Mark (Mercury Switch)

I fucking hate that old guy that acts like a total cocksucker at every show. He fucking told me I couldn't stand in front to take pictures after how many shows of doing so and Nate from The Hostage Heart telling him it was ok. That club is a fucking joke; I can't wait for somewhere else to pop up to put on cool shows so that place can go back to being the dump that it is.

Speaking of the Hostage Heart, hope everyone is ok, that totally sucks about y'alls van, but of course at least everyone is ok and stuff. I guess it could be worse, you could be a 60 year old bald dude with glasses that gets his rocks off by yelling "fuck the Palladium" into a mic that you can't even hear right...

love the pictures, they came out great, i'm glad we are finaly part of the rttp.com family. all those band that played were so good, and that sux that lloyd is such a looser, he thinks he is so cool cause he owns a club and rips people off, he has no respect for the bands so i called him a dutch and he got mad, ha ha ha. he is an A.S.S. any way hope that nate and XchrisX are ok, come see our weird vox band again!!!! p.s. that picture up above is so funny

i ment dush, or how ever you spell it

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Feb 5,2004 8:33am
douche and yes, exactly what you said...he's a moron

toggletoggle post by Paul from echelon at Feb 5,2004 8:40am
thanks, succubus. i jus got home from the night shift so i'm a little bit fried, i was looking at the lucus pictures and i say that one of the guitar players had a teli, how the hell do you make a teli, or a fender sound hard core?

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at Feb 5,2004 6:23pm
By playing breakdowns silly!

toggletoggle post by lucas at Feb 6,2004 10:25am
ya put a stacked humbucker in it and play the fuck out of it

toggletoggle post by Paul from echelon at Feb 6,2004 11:54pm
thats crazy, i love telis, i have a strat but it sounds like shit with hardcore settings, its much more of a rock guitar, but yeah...

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Feb 7,2004 1:50am
I hate Fenders. Fenders belong in blenders.

toggletoggle post by Paul from echelon at Feb 8,2004 1:25pm
well they are good if your into the blues or grundge!!!

toggletoggle post by bigwillie at Feb 11,2004 12:37pm
well...ive seen converge oplay teles and ricks, and ptw plays teles....soooooo im guessing that they arent just for "blues and grundge" or whatever...i like that someone isnt playing another sg or something cliche, makes for different soundsout of bands intstead of the same old thing, which im tired of...
