New site? Maybe some day.

Suggestions? Looking for a big and clear sound... Price range: 300-400 dollars. |
|
I love SM57 and E609.. not sure on the more expensive stuff |
|
With that price range you could buy a few.......
Shure sm57 - Industry standard, used on more guitar amps then whores in existence.
Audix I5
Sennheiser MD-421
Sennheiser e609 (little high end fizz)
Royer R121 (way out of your price range)
AKG C414 - I love this only when its blended with another mic. (way out of your price range)
If you are recording yourself, make sure you have a good mic preamp. I think thats more important then some really expensive mic. |
|
I always use a few mics. Gives me more options. In this pic I have a I5 & MD-421 on the grill, a C414 3 ft away. I didn't end up using the E609, thats why its off to the side.

nice setup man. must get some nice tones. |
|
if you can mic cabs withan sm57, any condenser, and a decent bass mic, you can tweak the eq(s) to get a nasty guitar sound. sometimes not even the condenser. |

I could not agree with this statement any more. With good preamp even a cheap-o sm-57 will get you some killer sounds.

|
Why you need mic for guitar? It plug into amp. Mic for vocals. You stupid, stupid. |

VEEEEEEEEEERY TRUE.
i got a Presonus, (really good preamps), and a 57.... solid guitar sound |
|
i always thought the combination of the 2 Mikes Gunface Keller and Justain was pretty good. |
|
Fixed
Between them two and the MD421 you can get any of the modern day guitar tones with the right preamp. |
