CNV is the sonic manifestation of the left hand path. The exploration of the heretic's archetypes, symbols, and ideas in relation to the psyche and subconscious. The flame of the occult dissent from the herd's poison and the Zeitgeist's treachery! The By-Paths to Chaos!

The Journey of Cold Northern Vengeance began in November of 2002 in the desolate cold region of the North Eastern Unites States: New Hampshire. The two bizarre individuals known as Heathen and Gemini met through a mutual friend (Chris Maclean of Martyrvore) and agreed that New England needed an atmospheric and obscure black metal band inspired by nature, the cold desolation of winter, the occult, hatred towards Judeo-Christian religions, misanthropy, and anything dark and strange. The bands surroundings and isolation from "scenes" played a key role as to why the art turned out the way it did and this will always be an essential element for CNV. Such a philosophy holds much in common with Aleister Crowley's "True Will" and Nietzsche's Ubermensch concept of forging ones path in defiance of society’s status quo. It is the bands sincere hope that this current Zeitgeist is destroyed and that a Kali Yuga, a Ragnarok, an apocalypse is inevitable, further driving their music like a sinister wedge deep into the herd mentality for one to arrive at a sort of awakening… to see and feel a more powerful way of existence as woven by the mighty tendrils of the abyss.

Cold Northern Vengeance recorded their first demo in late 02 through early 03, spawning a voice that was a raw, cold, somber and atmospheric attack of black metal with obvious influence from the Scandinavian style which was at the time, one of the main influences for the music. In 03 The band began composing the songs which would appear on their first release, "The Arising Dungeon Cult". Through this material, the band discovered their own unique spirit that attracted the interest of Ixiol Productions, who later released the CD. Having signed to Bindrune Recordings in 2007, Cold Northern Vengeance is poised to take their art to the next level with the greatly evolved sound and creatively charged madness found on “DOMINATION and SERVITUDE”. With such a solid philosophy at the helm and their music taking on an even more climatic impact, Cold Northern Vengeance has entered a new era of extreme blackened metal that shatters ones perception of what the US black metal scene is supposed to sound like, to stand triumphantly upon a heap of shoegazing imitators that have dug this genre deeper into it’s own filth of gothic frailty and “woe is me”, suicidal fantasies.
