And yes, they do suck. I use to hang out with the guitarist and bassist before they moved out to CA to form their homo nu-metal band. My ex-guitarist went to college with them in Vermont. They were nice kids but they always liked crap like nothingface (ughh) and trendy nu-rock/metal of the late 90's.

i'm not looking forward to seeing devil driver for the fourth unwanted time.

I only remember hearing one Devildriver song when they first came out. It sounded like poor man's Raymond Herrera on drums, with a pointless barrage of double bass in every section of the song. Even some of the chugging sounded like they were trying to rip off the Demanufacture riffing style or Pantera, only not even close to being as good. Coal Chamber frontman.... enough said.

That's cool man, I do admit to being prejudice because of his former band, but I also made mention of what I thought about the song I did hear from Devildriver. I enjoy the mechanical stop and go riffing of bands like (old) Fear Factory, and Meshuggah, but Devildriver just seemed like a poor attempt at getting Dez (I think?) some street credit in the metal scene. I don't know if all their songs are like the one I heard, but it was enough for me to not be interested in checking out the rest.

I will agree that the first album was subpar in many respects... but it was also their first album and he admitted that they were still trying to find direction for their music. At no point did Dez ever say... HOLY SHIT WE ARE THE BEST BAND EVER AND THIS CD KILLS EVERYTHING!!. In fact in interviews, he stated that after 3 albums they are finally starting to get the sound they want. But of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

They are alright with what they do, just not really for me....
I really haven't listened to them other than seeing them live in a long time.

That queermo JOINED devildriver. Those kids i spoke of already had that band goin before he was ever considered. HE joined to get metal, and they accepted him to get big. Very good call if i must say so myself.

when i first heard the first album i was all about it. but its one of those albums that after many many listens, it lost its appeal. i dont care that he was in Coal Chamber, but i do feel that he was bandwagon jumping. the albums are so over polished, it reminds me a lot of the grotesque over-production of Scar Culture, another band i thought highly of but over time started to dislike.

if anything give the guy some credit for resurrecting a music career that took a nose dive off a cliff. most nu-metal alumni are probably working in fastfood now. at least he's trying to be somewhat respectable and productive. and ya i forgot that he joined that band when it was already in progress but i think it was more so because he liked their music. this is merely speculation however.

i think the main problem is alot of bands dont use analog recording devices anymore... which provide a "dirtier, grittier and natural sound". Pro-tools has pretty much taken over.

dude devildriver is one of the worst bands in the metal scene today, along with chimaira, nu metal fuckin rejects

The first time I heard DevilDriver I had no clue who it was, and all I could think was, "This idiot singing reminds me of the dude from Coal Chamber too much," and also that the music was uninspired and quite commonplace among bands trying to capitalize on the growing trend of "underground metal" (I use that term quite loosely) rising to fame and MTV2 status. So I don't base my opinion on the fact that Dez is the singer, but when I found out that he was, it made sense and made me hate it more.

i dont care what anyone says... chimaira's new cd is damn good.
