I am moments away from absolute hysteria. Would anyone know why my F Drive (with all the hundreds of songs and shows on it) would randomly vanish. All of a sudden, it's just not there. Winamp is skipping tracks like it does when you delete or move a file on your playlist, my shortcut says the destination is not there...

It's gone from My Computer.

It's just fucking gone.

try doing a search for the F drive; it should be in the start menu somewhere. i haven't used a PC for a while now so i can't remember exactly where it is, but it's there.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Sep 4,2006 8:34pm
I bet you wouldn't have lost it if it was a delicious turkey dinner.

You know that I am the worst cook on Earth...I absolutely would have. I also would have burned it, let it catch fire, and then ordered out.

How would I know? We're not married. It was just one night. Calm down, you crazy bitch!

An error comes up saying I'm refering to something that doesn't exist.

that's no good, as i'm sure you already know, heh. if you have virus protection, do a scan. that might be the problem, unfortunately. this is one reason why i don't use PC's anymore. i had my entire harddrive wiped out within 2 weeks of getting a small virus

toggletoggle post by pam   at Sep 4,2006 8:50pm
I don't have virus stuff. I am so going to cry.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Sep 4,2006 8:52pm
i shall cry for you

I don't believe that MAC's just never get virus's. I don't understand how that is possible. And I resent their condescending commercials. However I am upset enough to buy anything right now.

Hard drives DIE. Not sometimes, ... ALL the time. The 5 year warranty they give on most drives isn't going to bring your stuff back.

Back up your shit often.

I have nowhere to back up unfortunately. No burner. Weeks from getting the iPod I was stocking up on albums for...

I am shit outta luck.

Drives are soooooo fucking cheap these days. Buy and external, or build one yourself(you can get a cheap western digital 80 gb and a external case for less then a $100)

toggletoggle post by pam   at Sep 4,2006 11:14pm
Looks like I might have to do that!

toggletoggle post by infoterror  at Sep 4,2006 11:45pm
REBOOT

GO TO DEVICE MANAGER
SEE IF HD IS THERE

IF IT IS, GET PROPERTIES ON IT
RUN YOUR DEFRAGMENTER
IT WILL REPORT ANY SERIOUS ERRORS

IF INTERMITTENT ERROR, BACKUP FAST
THE FUCKER'S ABOUT TO DIE

MACs ONLY GET ONE VIRUS: AIDS
JUST LIKE KILLED JESSE PINTADO

toggletoggle post by pam   at Sep 4,2006 11:48pm
Tried that, it's not there. Thanks though.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Sep 5,2006 1:11pm
whenever that happend to me.. i tried resetting it to an earlier date..
go to start> programs> accesories> then system tools... click on that and an option will come up that says " restore to an earlier date"
go in a pick a date a couple weeks ago when you had all the info.. and it will restart on its own.. that should definately work..

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Sep 5,2006 1:19pm
oh sorry.. under system tools you have to click > system restore.. forgot that part

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Sep 5,2006 1:37pm
First order of business: Open the computer up and make sure the IDE cable (I'm assuming the drive is IDE) is firmly attached to the drive AND motherboard. Also check to see if the power cable is plugged in snuggly.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Sep 5,2006 1:39pm
What kind of computer is it? How old? How many hard drives and partitions did you have set up?

Why don't you trying actually owning some DRI albums instead of relying on gay sound files and y'know, not being a poseur.

toggletoggle post by Dar  at Sep 5,2006 3:02pm
Yeah pam, stop not being a poseur. I think MSD got it right, the first thing I'd do is check to make sure the sucker is connected...mine used to fall out all the time.

I'm sorry I can't hear old, ugly, fat men who resemble the 'guy on the couch' and listen to KISS.

I'll check the inside and shit, and try system restore. Thanks guys.

believe it. since macs only make up a small percentage of the market, no one wastes their time targeting them with a virus.
