ok, the show is going down a little bit... like 4 hours.
i'm leaving now to go get an oil change:

Bane (Nick's Last show)
Barrit (reunion) / Hatebreed
The Hope Conspiracy
Most Precious Blood / Ringworm
What Feeds the Fire? (Last show ever)
With Honor

everyone says there is going to be a lot of crying.
we'll see.

I just came back. The fuckin Converge drummer kicked me in the head when he stage dove. Now both my eyes are swollen.....fuckin Converge.

But the whole show kicked ass just because I got a MPB pin with Knight Rider era David Hasselhoff on it. It doesn't make sense......BUT IT'S DAVID HASSELHOFF!!!!!! Totally awesome.

damn, I took 952 pictures. I had to go through all of them and remove the blurry ones. that's what's the hold up.

anyhow, if I were to write a story and call it an emotional concert, it would not come close to this show. A Barrit reunion at a show for the singer's kids, what feeds the fire's last show, bane's drummer's last show...

with honor: the first time I saw them on a real stage with a barricade and all. I didn't know if they were going to pull it off, but they did. the show was awesome. they had so much energy and got the crowd going, even though it was early. they are going into krut from converge's studio in september to record their full length. like the ep, it'll be amazing.

ringworm: another awesome set. mostly old school kids danced to them. It's weird, they get a lot of backing and have releases/shows with hardcore bands, but they sound most like a metal band to me.

most precious blood: they came out and rocked it with some new tracks (for the CD coming out in Nov) along with older tracks. I love mbp cause they are always in there air jumping. Their set ended with the bassist spitting on his bass and the singer curled up in a ball on the monitors. I don't you this show was emotional.

what feeds the fire: hatebreed was late so wftf came on and played early. I will admit, I've heard a 7" from these guys and that's about it. Basically, they all have other projects that they are going off to do. Their set rocked. The sound a bit like the takeover. There was some dumb fight during there set. I guess someone got the $@#$ kicked out of them. the leadsinger jumped into it to.

hatebreed: there were all these rules we had to follow to be able to shoot them. it was weird. Before teir set, I started to hangout with some of steve neale's friends/family and heard tons of stories. The rumor was that hatebreed was going to come out and do their cd "Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire" cover to cover *wishful thinking*, but that didn't happen. they play 1/2 new, 1/2 old. The crowd was odd for them. It didn't see any FSU there dancing.

barrit: what an amazing performance from an amazing band. zack and pete from bane played amazingly. Most of the time, zach was screaming at the top of his lungs into the air while playing. another emotional performance. at one point, the replacement singer said "steve neale, who the fuck was steve neale" and then collapsed near the drums to compose himself. During the first 4-5 songs, the little neale daughter was in sitting on barrit's roadie's lap soaking in the set with her little headphone's on. It was both amazing and tear jerking at the same time. The set ended with zack destroying his bass, tearing his finger open and laying still in a lump on the floor while everyeon around me was crying and hugging.

bane: they played the other 1/2 of the songs that they didn't play yesterday. I couldn't believe the energy that everyone had. They were stage driving and bouncing all over the place. Aaron (bane's singer) did his expected speeches in between songs. This time however, they were mostly about steve, his family and kids. You could hear his voice faltering as he tried to talk and not break into tears. His words rang pretty true, life is short, love people while they are here. In the end, they busted out two classics for nick (the drummer)'s last show ever. Rumors are going around that bane is through now that nick is gone. I guess time will tell.

On a closing note, I knew barrit and knew about the dead of steve, but thankfully, I wasn’t emotionally involved and didn’t have to bare the brunt of his passing. On the other side, it is sad that my encounters with him were brief so that I never really met the man for which a bunch of bands would come together to do a huge scale benefit for. To all the friends and family and children, there is nothing that I can say or do that will make anything better or easier. I hope that with this benefit show, your minds are helped with the facts of how many lives he touched.

I dunno, I thought I saw a couple FSU guys in the pit for Hatebreed. Anyways, it was a kick ass show. The second day was hella better than the first.

this was definitly a memorable show. I liked pretty much every band except for ringworm. I got shit for saying this on the lambgoat board but I think pretty much every song of theirs sounded the same. They really only had one good breakdown that everyone off too. But w/e they get to tour the country and I dont. so good for them.

Im definitly picking up some barrit stuff because they definitly kicked some serious ass at the show. I never even had heard of them before.

Bane was Bane. Amazing show. crowd went nuts, singing everyword to every song even though Bane played like 7 hrs into the show. so it wasnt like metalfest where everyone was tired as fuck by the time the last band played. The speeches between the songs were actually pretty inspiring(!) That lead singer is the only guy I can stand listen to preach. he actually seems sincere unlike the lead singer of terror or other hardcore bands where they say everyone should get along and look out for each other and the next minute their telling everyone to kick the shit out of each other and that their unhappy that theres no blood.

But w/e. It was a great show with about 2000 people in attendance. Im kicking myself for not going the first day but day 2 was a blast and worth the 20 bucks. See you guys Aug 8th for ETID and throwdown.

what's up with no shots of the pit? how are you going to call your website "return to the pit" and have no pictures of the mosh pit from shows?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 1,2003 3:39am
I'm going to have anal cunt write a song about it.
they will call it "mosh pits are gay"

ps: that's a pit picture from the show.

that too.
maybe next time you should fight your way to the front.
ps: nice terror shirt.

who are you talking to there? internet kids are always so spiteful. why'd you only get hatebreed pictures, it's all digital pictures anyways right? so do more than just band pictures. it's a suggestion not an arguement.

I was only joking. It depends on what's going on whether I get pit shots or not. I have to go up to the side balconies to do it. Since bands don't play for very long, it depends. Sometimes instead of going up, i got on/behind stage and shoot the crowd over the back of the band and drummer.
and, I got tons of pictures of the crowd singing along with the singers when they jumped into the crowd.

I know people like/want to see themselves in the crowd, but oh well.

you get different shots from different angles...including pit shots. It's just harder in smaller venues..but look at palladium photos

ringworm was the only good band on this stupid show.
