Hey everyone. I just wanted to post a heads up on two shows I have coming up. Both shows are on Saturday the 24th at Mass Art and are a part of the N.E.S.T. Festival (North East Sticks Together). www.Nest2005.com for info on the whole event.

Afternoon show:

Verse
Bones Brigade
Fruit Salad
No Idols
Ringers

Night show:

Ed Gein
The Minor times
As long as we're all living, we're all dying
Disappearer
The Hound
Achilles

Both shows are $7 and I might do some deal where if you come to both you get a couple bucks off or something. Stay tuned for more info!

there may or may not be another suprise addditiont to this show!

-Jonah

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Sep 16,2005 12:31am
well, the opposite of a suprise addition happened, Verse and The Minor Times both dropped off.

I feel like this makes me look like a bad promoter so without spreading rumors or talking shit, all im going to say is that the word "Confirmed" was used with both bands over a month ago. I will also say that Verse had a pretty good reason and Minor Times didn't.

I hate booking shows. I'll be announcing replacements soon.

toggletoggle post by Jonah nli at Sep 21,2005 11:27am
I asked a bunch of people but it looks like the show is going to be the same as it was before just minus the bands that dropped off.

new flyer:

Ruining Tomorrow asked to jump on and although I've never heard them, I guess they are ex-Tommy and the Terrors.

Mass Art is located at 621 Huntington Ave and the show is on the side of the campus facing Boston (on evans way)

Now noone's ever gonna listen to you when you say "SUPPORT TOURING BANDS!" again!

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Sep 21,2005 4:06pm
Minor Times is notorious for dropping off shows, or so i hear

toggletoggle post by jonah nli at Sep 21,2005 5:58pm
Alex: just out of curiosity, why are you always a dick to me? I actually went to that bands website, listened to a track, watched a "music video", and decided I wasn't into it. Obviously you aren't into it either. Whats the point of giving me a hard time?

Moe: its true, this is the second time they've dropped off shows on me. The first time they didn't give a reason, this time they have a really lame reason.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Sep 21,2005 6:00pm
i havent met anyone who has something good to say about them

toggletoggle post by PatMeebles at Sep 21,2005 8:48pm
Can 26 Beers play the bones brigade show? We can open so people have more time to show up.

toggletoggle post by Jonah nli at Sep 22,2005 12:09am
Moe, they're a great band recorded, but this show stuff is getting annoying..

Pat, I'd like to keep it at 5 bands per show. sorry duder..

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Sep 22,2005 12:37am
yea, i know, i'm a fan of their music but everyone tells me their douchebags

toggletoggle post by Jonah nli at Sep 22,2005 1:30am
haha, we'll I guess we'll never get to find out if they don't ever play new england..

toggletoggle post by intricateprocess   at Sep 22,2005 1:38am
any idea what time the show will end?

id like to take the T to show

toggletoggle post by Jonah nli at Sep 22,2005 2:04am
the early show is 1:30 - 6, the late show is 6:30-11

this includes plenty of time for bands to set up and the shows will mostly likely be shorter then the time alloted..

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Sep 22,2005 2:41am edited Sep 22,2005 2:45am
I hung out with the Minor Times alittle bit once. We played wall ball. They were fairly nice kids. I know the vocalist is a very opinionated person with politics and other stuff. the last show was canceled because they were playing in lowell that same day. i have no idea what the deal is with saturday's show, but i saw them in new england. it was a CT show. They put on one of the best live performances i've ever seen too. they played in pitch black with only a blue light behind the drummer. they all played SUPER tight and you could barely see the outlines of anyone live. it's a shame they're not playing this, but the only real upside is that i won't be spending so much money at this show.

other than that... bands dropping doesn't make you look like a bad promoter. i know how hard it was for me to do the couple of shows i did and i couldn't imagine doing it all the time. i'm sure most people on here know what it's like to, either from being in a band, promoting, or just being a fan of underground music. but the people who do promote awesome music I thank and support. i'm sorry jonah, that it's stressful, but you're fucking awesome. thanks for everything! you've got my support and if you ever need a hand with anything you've got my number. i'm glad to help.

toggletoggle post by Jonah nli at Sep 22,2005 2:57am
last time the boston show was supposed to be an all ages afternoon show since the night lowell show was 21+. they ended up cancelling both and wouldn't answer my emails asking what happened. this time they cancelled through their record label dude.

anyway, thanks for the kind words dude. I really appreciate it.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Sep 22,2005 12:21pm

If you wanna call pointing out bullshit on the internet "being a dick", no worries. I've seen you call for people to support bands for the sake that they are on tour, rather than anything to do with their music, numerous times, to the point where it's like a broken record... If you're going to spread dogma and then not follow it to the letter, expect to be called on it by observant people.

If you think I'm always being a dick to you, there's nothing I can do about it. It's annoying when people spout off about how Metal they are when their credentials in that regard are highly suspect and when they badmouth a lot of good Metal shows just cause they happen to be taking place somewhere other than their own tiny basement. Frankly I don't see how maybe 20 comments of mine in that regard towards you over the course of months and months of online interaction works out to "always", but think what you like!

I'm leaving for the bones brigade show now.
then going to BDM.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 12:22pm
oh, and I've seen minor times twice in new england (RI/MA) and once in jersey. I agree with devin's review of them.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 2:21pm
ok, having to pay parking meters at 15 min/.25 sucks.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Sep 24,2005 2:24pm
a buck an hour is better than $20 though if you drive a bit...you can find non metered spots

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 2:33pm
I guess, I put in $$ until 3:30. I'm going to go back after that and put n a few more $$s. I was thinking about parking in the projects, but decided against it.

this show hasn't started yet. this area is messed up, but the mass art buildings are really cool. there are sculptures everywhere around here.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Sep 24,2005 2:35pm
what did you think of the veggie pizza btw?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 2:37pm
didnt eat it yet.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 4:24pm
gr... paying the meter does nothing...

ringers: they were sloppy seconds-ish punk. Very catchy. I was playing with lighting more than paying attention to them, unfortunately. The one thing is I think that they need a song that is their "catchy" song that the punks count have sung along to. Maybe people just need to learn their stuff since ryan (ex-wers) was singing along.

no idols: they are on tour not for a few dates with ed gein since they are both from syracuse. I had heard one of the tracks off their 7". They sounded a lot like cursed, sort of like the new ed gein. Mitch (trash art) was their checking them out so it all made sense.

fruit salad: I'm thinking these guys and BB were the reasons for most kids coming out early. They sounded though it a big room like this, I don't think the are as good as a tiny room (ala library). People were a bit too spread out for there to be pile ups. I missed most of their set cause I found a ticket on my car and I didn't know what to do.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 5:20pm
shows over, pictures will be up in a minute

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 24,2005 5:57pm
bones brigade: I've only heard about these guys. It was really good punk with both rock-riffs and metal parts. I figured they would just be straight punk/hardcore, but there's a catchy element to them that I can't deny. Kids circle pitted up a storm for them. The singer (who's one of two long haireds in punk that I know of) ran around the whole time, diving into the crowd a lot. They had a bunch of issues with their equipment.

no ruining tomorrow even though kevin (if this were the prp, I would call him kevining tomorrow) was there. I guess their drummer was a no show.

eat shit. jonah does more to promote the underground scene than almost anyone i know. if you don't like how he does it then just stop leaving him sarcastic remarks and mind your own business.

The internet was made for the sole purpose of giving me a place to display my sarcastic remarks!

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Sep 25,2005 1:03pm
achilles: can i say The Minor Times meets Breather Resist. Yes some botch clonage. I was fucking loving this band.

the hound: I went to El Pelon to eat a burrito. Jonah got me excited about it. I hear they were sick though.

Disappearer: SICK! heavy heavy heavy! Sick! awesome! ohh yeah... LOUD!

ALAWALWAD: guitars sounded kinda weird, but it was my favorite set of them ever. their slow parts are really sick. Jonah was going off, which was awesome. stick twirls all over the place. I saw him miss one though. And he almost missed one and he hit a cymbal off beat. but they had this really slow song that that i was digging. would have been soo neurosis with a tribal beat. good set.

Ed Gein: love this band. new songs are pretty short and sweet. not as cool or weird as the old stuff, but very technical in time signatures.
