dead to fall is one of the shittiest metalcore bands ever. they rip off at the gates riffs extremely poorly, have the traditional 1 to 2 chord breakdowns and the dryest vocals ever

why must I work that night? why!?

Dead to Fall sucks major ass I saw them at the middle east!!! Its sad when a band like dead to fall gets to open for Obituary and Naplam......

Guitarist Allen West has announced his departure from OBITUARY. West's exit from the group comes on the eve of OBITUARY's U.S. tour with NAPALM DEATH and Allen feels that the fans deserve no surprises when they don't see the band that they were expecting. Allen will concentrate fully on LOWBROW, whose revamped lineup consists of founding members West, Curtis Beeson (NASTY SAVAGE) and Richard Hornberger, along with new bassist Jon Fronza. LOWBROW will continue without former members Ben Meyer (NASTY SAVAGE, ACHERON) and Richard Bateman (AGENT STEEL, NASTY SAVAGE)

torn asunder: the just finished up. The beginning of their set had about 30-50 kids in the crowd. After their first song started, like 100+ kids ran straight down to the front with their horns up in the air. That was cool to see people getting way into them. They have a new CD coming out and they played all track from that (like the last show). At the end of their set, someone yelled to "the butcher" which was their last song. I hope someone sends me a copy of the CD...

toggletoggle post by todayistheday at Sep 3,2005 8:25pm
is this upstairs or downstairs?

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Sep 3,2005 8:38pm
im leaving now.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 3,2005 8:39pm
dead to fall: wow, they started of with gates of hell. That's usually their ending song... They played a new song called something like "when all your heroes fail you" which is on their next CD (victory 4/06). They also played (i think) tu se meurta, stand and fight, villiany&virtue, ready..set..circle pit the one where they repeat the first album name over and over, and ended with bastard set of dreams (which I got a request for last week). I'm sort of surprised that they had so many people in the audience that actually dug them. Not just western mass kids either. There were a bunch of metalhead getting into the too.serge was in the audience with his fist in the air for 1/2 their set which was a surprisingly long set for an opener.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 3,2005 8:51pm
cannae: it's odd to think that there are only 2 original members in the band now. They have a new out on tuesday but the were selling out back. This new CD totally messes all the new guys into the band. The new guitarist is sort of a guitar noodler on some of the new track which makes them stand out a bit. The tracks they played sounded really solid and I hope that someone gives me a copy soon... They only played two older songs, human head and anna's love. during the last song, someone in the crowd came over the barricade. He was the first person to do that so far. On of the new jack bouncers really didn't know what to do so te guy hoped up on stage and dove into the crowd. they were very appreciative of the audience and dead to fall. I think that d2f probably switched with them on something.
also, there were no fights! what's up with that!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 3,2005 10:19pm
napalm death: when they started out, the first song they played turned me off at bit. I though it was going sound like crap. it just wasn't gelling together. After that, they broke into a lot of stuff that I actually liked. And I felt better about their set. barney is one of the craziest front men to track on stage. He constantly looks like he's about to take off into the crthere was a lot of bush bashing. which was funny giving the current board convos. They played their fuck bush/blair song as well as a couple of songs off the code is red. I was when they went into their "death metal" tracks, suffer the children (when I first discovered nd, harmony corruption) into breed to breath (when I rediscovered them inside the torn apart). Barney's sounded sort of off on breed to breath. Last time I saw them I forget what cover they played, I was hoping for the cryptic slaughter track and that's what they played, yes! They played a track called "the great and the good" off the new CD. I guess jello biafro sang on the new CD for that track. When barney started talking about it, I know people were thinking what I was thnking, nazi punx/california über alles/kill the poor. I was hoping that jello would com out. After that SCUM! Man, this band has come a lon was since then. Live/kill/die! Then they played nzi punks fuck off, not my fav DK, but a good one. Finally they ended with siege of power.
They were also collecting $$$ for the hurricane people.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 4,2005 1:09am
obituary: damn, they took like 45 minutes to set up. That was sort of totally lame. then when they came out, the singer was mia. After a slow chuggy intro, he came out and they broke in to a ton of song. Obituary is always one of those bands that I think of and think they are just a cheese dm band from the 90s. Then I hear them and I remember how awesome they are and how I know every fucking song they play. Listening to them, you can hear million of riff, progression, and slow build ups that have been stolen by just about every single band today. A couple songs in, they played threatening skies. I swear six feet under stole 1/2 that song for on of the songs of warpath (the name esapes me). After every song, the drummer would stand up and clap or whatever. Where the hell was that "spooky" satan voice coming from? They tested it out, but I have no idea when it was coming from..
Right be for the encore, they played a track off the new CD. they said it was their "last song" Yeah right no slowly we rot? And who finihes up with a brand new track? Nobody, that's who.
encore: the drumer can out and played a drum solo for 5 minutes or so. then every, but the singer came out. You hear the toms REALLY loud. Well, this is because john tardy come up behind the drums and was playing behind the drummer. They played dying! And then the mic kept caughting oh well, they fought to the death. Slowly we rot. people were chanting for one more song, but it didn't happen.

just got home from the show. it was pretty good; i was surprised how empy the place was, i expected a lot more people to show up! anyway, i thought the first 3 bands (torn asunder, dead to fall, and cannae) pretty much sucked, i didn't care for any of them.
then, the gods of grind, napalm death, took the stage, and rocked the fuckin house with a vicious, brutal set of pummeling death metal that got everyone going nuts. i've never seen napalm death before; i'm glad i got the chance tonight, they are one of the best bands i've ever seen, lots of pissed off energy on that stage! wonderful!
then after waiting about a half hour, obituary finally came out and ripped through their set, playing some awesome new songs from their new album, plus some old favorites. the new songs don't sound any different, the style is exactly the same as their early 90's stuff, and john tardy can still belch out those inhuman growls like nobody's business! their set was good, but i personally enjoyed napalm death much more. fun show.

toggletoggle post by dwellingsickness at Sep 4,2005 2:48am
Missed the first band, was across the street at the Irish pub,Dead to fall,Cannae both sucked.....Napalm death was awesome , they needed to play more off of scum though...Obituary was just killer,I did not recognize the 2nd guitarist but he was awesome,Those solos in the cause of Death material were dead on.And I did not see Keith or Sean, cause I woulda gotten myself a TS shirt, which they were gonna bring I guess

The Obituary guitarist who recently quit, rejoined before the tour began. A quick quit rejoin sceniro. Napalm Death just keep grinding almost, if not already in their 40's. I 've been going to their shows since I was 14 (I'm 29 now). Just a killer band.
