I was thinking of going to this show. Is sin of angels going on 1st??
Is this the band order?
dead to fall
the minor times
cannae
i destroyer
through the discipline
sin of angels

Im not really familer with these bands except for sin of angels and i destroyer, whos this Cannae ? i heard the name before, are they hardcore.
I cant deal with the stupid "ninja pitting" kids disturbing me while im trying to enjoy a nice cold beer after a shitty work day.

toggletoggle post by nate   at Feb 2,2005 12:26pm
Cannae is more metalcore-ish. My friend Shane plays bass in the band. Pretty good shit for what they play.

toggletoggle post by chrisabomb at Feb 2,2005 3:53pm
sin of angels is going on 1st/ show starts @ 8:30pm...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 2,2005 4:01pm
i destroyer (drop dead) is a more noisey band.

through the discipline is awesome! it's hardcore, but very old school with a lot of slayer riffs. was it this band that one of the singers from cryptopsy tried out for? I think I heard that some where.

cannae couldn't make it....

cannae had van troubles and couldn't play, which stunk. Also, the end was written up as playing this show on the AS220 board, but they didn't.

sin of angels: well, I wasnn't expecting that. I remeber seeing them a long time ago at the living room with another singer. they were totally different. this was completely doomy and stoney. I could hear a lot of influence from alabama thunder pussy (but the singing wasn't bad like ATP), some bongzilla too. it's not death metal like they used to be.

through the discipline: they played pretty awesome. starting right off with some old school riffs. the vocals seemed a lot harsher than they used to be which is cool. they played a new song that they have never played before and sent it out to me and RTTP. Did mike read one of my previous posts? Mentioned that people can go to the board and speak their mind... like I had just mentioned that I wish people did more of after shows. I was afraid that the AS220 crowd wasn't going to dance, but a few kids got out on the floor and cut a rug for them. There was a short break where they tuned up and the drummer/second guitarist ripped out a little Cannibal Corpse striped raped and strangled.

i, destroyer: dead bob stayed on the floor for most of their set. it was pretty cool. unfortunately the other singer's mic wasn't up loud enough. their performance was great, but the crowd there wasn't really the crowd that shows up for them. only one person moved around for them. usually, there are bunches of people gathered around rocking out for them.

the minor times: when I was in the front talking with john (d2f's singer), he said the minor times was the heaviest band. I saw them once before, but it was hellfest and there were so many bands so I didn't really remember. they were so loud. I was scrambling to get my ear plugs in and then they wouldn't expand fast enough. About 2 songs into their set, the sheer immense sound they were putting out was too much for that place to take. the power went out. it took about 5-10 minutes for someone to figure out how to get it back on. even more people danced for them.
I told them that the singer looks like the singer for engineer... I guess the 2 bands are friends and people have said that before.

dead to fall: midnight on a wednesday night. the crowd sort of thinned out a bit for them. again, I thought no one was going to dance, but 3x the number of people that danced for the other bands, danced for them. they played a bunch of songs; V&V, tu se morta, the title track from the first cd, an at the gates cover, and ended with the imortal gates of hell. the new drummer was good, but I was still a little disappointed that Evan left them. oh well, let's hope the new drummer fits better with the band.

on the way home, I was listening to 88.7 WJMF. they played an old modest mouse song, yeah! then I tuned in to 90.3 WRIU and listened to a punk-ish show.

I have to say I was really impressed by Dead To Fall.

Through the Discipline has always had the same singer, and for the record they are Metal if anything, not even close to old school HC, I have never heard an old school HC band with a guitarist that can do 16 note sweeps with slides.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2005 5:42pm
I know that mike's always been the singer,
but I thought I heard something about one of the singers from cryptopsy doing a track with them.

toggletoggle post by Metal head at Feb 3,2005 5:56pm
hmmm I dont know i'll have to ask the guitarist on myspace.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2005 6:04pm
it could have just been a rumor.

and their music has a lot of classic, "old school" guitar riffs ala slayer and cannibal corpse plus some break downs. it rules.

toggletoggle post by Metal head at Feb 3,2005 6:09pm
this is true, I love them cause i love melody and leads, they got a lot of that. I hope they put out a cd again soon, I wanna hear some crazy guitar shit, seems like the lead guitarist has gotten a lot better since there last recordings.

there's a video of mike from TTD doing backing vocals for "Kingdom of Cruelty" at the Dehumanized rehearsal studio not too long ago. i don't have anything to host the video online though
