Well... Such a shirt could not be complete without a big pic of Nigel's lovely mug, so that would clue everyone else in. |

one of my favorite movies of all time |

Spinal Tap vs. The Folksmen
I like the Folksmen better. Spinal Tap was a great movie but as a metal band they weren't that good. Barely heavy enough to be metal. And then they ruined it with that godawful Break Like the Wind album.
The Folksmen were really really good at what they did. Never Did No Wandering is heavier than any Spinal Tap song too.
Also, most people I know can't stand folk music so I get to annoy the shit out of them in my car by blasting the Mighty Wind soundtrack.

Mighty Wind is pretty fuckin funny but c'mon dude! Back when Spinal Tap was made they totally nailed the look, sound, and mentality of an early 80's metal band! And Break Like The Wind is awsome for the same reasons. I dont think they were really trying to be the heaviest band in the world....... |
|
what other movies have they done? didn't they do one about a dog show? |

Look and mentality maybe, but not the sound. I like Big Bottom and that first song they play in the beginning of the movie that Camaerosmith covered last year, but I wouldn't put them in the same category as Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Blizzard of Ozz, Venom, etc etc.
The Majesty of Rock was not funny in any way whatsoever.

Waiting For Guffman
Best In Show
Spinal Tap 1&2
i forget what else |

Anyways, Mitch and Mickey blow them all away. I wish they had more than 4 songs on the soundtrack. My wife and I were going to go as them for Halloween, but we're too lazy.

Sure it was! Did you read the lyrics? They make absolutely no sense! And theyre a joke band anyways of course theyre not as good as Priest or Sabbath.
|
|
that's like what 50 hours? |
|
Dudes, Tap are a fucking joke. They're not trying to be any good. Their goal was to make fun of every popular metal band up to that point. Venom, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Priest, Van Halen, Maiden - they all get the shit kicked out of them in that video! And it's hilarious! |
|
hahahaha
who cares? they were tits!
"no i strictly said, black on black" |

Whoa whoa whoa, there's a sequel??? |

I do agree with Josh on one count... SPINAL TAP as a band really was just hard rock. I really think they were parodying 70's bands more than anything, I don't think at the time they were making it, they realized how big up and coming bands like Priest and Maiden would be... So I think it's more taking the piss on the aging/popularity waning DEEP PURPLES, KISSES, and SABBATHS of the turn of the decade. |
|
Yeah, you guys gotta keep in mind that Spinal Tap was released in 83 (right??). That means that when it was written Iron Maiden weren't quite big yet and Priest had only recently done Breakin The Law, which was what skyrocketed them to fame. So I agree that it was most likely more based on KISS, Sabbath, etc. |
