Victory Records announces the signing of Connecticut/Queens, NY’s EMMURE, whose goal according to guitarist Jesse Ketive is simple: “We’re looking to be the heaviest, most emotionally moving band out there.”
The band, whose members hail from Queens NY, and Fairfield, CT, hooked up through the Internet three years ago. Since then, they’ve been writing their own songs and touring DIY relentlessly. They will enter the studio to record their debut Victory full-length in early winter. When asked why the band chose Victory, Jesse says, “Obviously, we know that Victory is the best independent rock label out there. It only made sense to go to the best team. We trust Victory and feel together we can really make the most of it.”
Although the band will write fresh material for their debut album, Ketive is confident on what the finished product will sound like. “Expect very brutal rock that’s still easy to understand and connect to,” he declares. “We pride ourselves on creating very genuine music. We always made music that way and we always will. The only difference now is what we do will be done on a larger scale. How we make our music won’t change. We’re not going to snap our fingers and become this totally different band. We’re going to write the same way and play the same way—that’s how we can keep people happy.”
Their music is already getting across in a very big way. "Unlike any traditional hardcore band's brutality that I had previously witnessed" exclaimed a reviewer for Future-Breed.com. "The power makes my floor vibrate and shake."
Yet what makes EMMURE such a special band is that they present themselves and their music as who they really are: “We really enjoy writing the heaviest music possible and playing it to others, yet at the same time this band is very friendly and approachable,” Jesse notes. “The thing that can set us apart is our finesse…in the way we care about everything we do, and the way we come across to people. I want our fans to have a true sense of who we are, so when we go up onstage, we’re having a lot of fun playing the hardest music we can, so people can enjoy it, too.”
Why did Victory sign EMMURE? Victory owner Tony Brummel makes it simple: “This is aggressive music for what many feel are frustrating times. There are many negative ways to deal with frustration in one’s life. EMMURE provides a positive alternative. Sonically and emotionally they reflect the power that music can have.”
EMMURE are: Frank Palmeri – Vocals, Ben Lionetti– Guitar, Jesse Ketive - Guitar , Mark Davis – Bass, and Joe Lionetti – Drums.
