nothing but enemies: this featured the singer from defcon4 on bass. his normal gg-esque antics were subdued since he had to actually play the bass. the singer was pretty intense on the stage. lots of energy. also, he was a nice guy. they sounded like punk influenced power violence. I think if they had another guitar player and uped the metal qualities, they would sound like old agnostic front meeting aggression. Listening to the drums though, I think they will sound a lot more straight up punk on CD. the crowd was the same people who come out to see defcon4 so there were tons of beer being thrown around. the singer was drinking blueberry monster drinks; my favorite.

heuristic, the: they were suppose to be the odd man out. after the beer being thrown at nothing but enemies, they thought that they would have things tossed at them. this didn't happen. throwing things is what punks do to bands they really really like. I mean you have to really like a band to toss 1/2 a $5 beer at them. that aside, the people I talked to really liked the set. it was something different in the middle of the show. they started off with their normal type intro music, facing away from the crowd. slowly they came out and faced the crowd. their set is kind of like 1/2 a sin wave. they start off quiet and then explode into page 99 amplitude, ending back on a quiet note. this analogy isn't quite right, cuase they have that "other" song that they play at the end now which throws that off. Throws it off like some one thrown off when they trip over a skateboard (or on spilt beer). Check out the pictures if you want to know. One problem I have seeing the heuristic right in front of the stage is that the guitars are so loud that which ever side of the stage you are on, you mostly hear the guitar from that side of the stage. I guess if I stepped back a little away from the stage, I might hear everything at once.

old men, the: yes, there were tons of jokes about them being old, needing glasses, etc… some of it coming from this old man. They sort of got the worst reception from the crowd. I swear that I saw them before and they were more punk. What band is norwell bob in? I thought it was this one, but maybe I don’t know who he is. A lot of the friends of the old men and a few others were in the front moving, but most of the people in the back didn’t seem to care that a band was playing. There was a big open hole in the crowd. The music was more like the newer grief, seeing as this band is like 2/3’s of grief. The only different is the bass player. He sings a lot of the time. Some of their stuff sounds heavily influenced by 70’s/80’s metal. I heard some bands where the guitars sounded like old AC/DC and other times like metallica ride the lightning.
Edit: I was thinking the gunmen when that’s who I was getting the old men confused with.

bloodstains: I guess there is one member of the unseen in this band. I was never a big fan of the unseen so I’m not sure even who he was. They played really good though. Good to see people still getting by making violent drunk punk. The entire time people tossed beer and cans on the stage. 5-minutes into their set, the floor was soaked and people were rolling around in the middle of the floor. Every time I looked towards the crowd, I saw people down, fighting to get back on their feet. I’m sure this had as much to do with the beer in them as the beer on the floor. When they started, I was planning to only stay for 15 minutes, but their set was that interesting that I had to stay till the end.
