what an interesting place. It wasn't nearly as scary as everyone made me thing it was going to be. Granted, when I went in there, I was told not to take pictures of the crowd there or I might find my camera showed up my asshole. Advice that I heeded cause I really don't like things in there (and if I did I would have been at another capecod bar). suspension of grace: I liked their sound, but they seemed wicked nervous. though from the "atmosphere" of that place, I don't blame them. I was trying to figure out their sound. There were parts that sounded like beyond the sixth seal-ish and other times that sounded like south shore metal. manifest: not really my thing. I mean, they played and sounded good, but it was like tool-ish sounding metal with some parts closer to pantra and some more evil singing at other points. I'm not a fan of tool so it didn't work for me. doppler effect: the first song I wasn't really into, but then their 2nd was better. But when I started to get into them, the owner said "you're done" and they got booted off stage. They were cut for having an "improv" sound. which is actually why I liked the 2nd song better. 13 winters: well, they sounded ok. I'm guessing they sound a lot better usually, but things were way too loud and over things you couldn't really hear. They are black metal with violins. I got the demo and I'll give it a listen as soon as I can. Oh yeah, they also got their set cut after 2 songs. shroud of bereavement: damn, their set was awesome. The sound guy miked them up really well so it sounded so good. Before they went on, the owner came over and talked to me. the convo was so up my asshole. Before they went on, the owner came over and talked to me. the convo was something like "...so you're the photographer... if they are good I'll get all those people at the bar up and dancing.. I hear these guys sound like ozzy... I like ted nugent, you know..." and then she told me how bands need to entertain not 'the headbanging' cause that's for 16-17 year olds. I guess they have all ages shows on sunday. anyhow, SoB played 3 songs and it sounded killer. Those guys should be huge. they sound like doom metal with a harder edge to it. It's just very different and everyone should go right now and DL their mp3s to test drive. They will play rttp at some point.
