I feel bad for Todd cause he's a real good dude and he does a lot to help out bands with shows up at the BS.

I can say this though...the dudes in Shaniqua ARE nice guys. Serj isn't a bad dood either but he has done some real sketch stuff to bands and also done weird stuff with booking shows. I think if it was up to Todd how the BS was run it would be a sick ass club but it's not and unfortunately he gets part of the backlash just for working there.

Serj doesn't understand what people want from the place and I think that got to shaniqua. Myself and other people we know have had equipment ruined by the faulty wiring; he doesn't promote shows well enough to reach a mass audience; he doesn't listen to the bands OR audience members for suggestions about what could improve the place...and other things. That doesn't mean I don't like Serj or the BS -- I've had some great times playing there. But I do think it made the guys in shaniqua feel some animosity towards it all and I think they let loose a little more than usual.

It's also true that when you have them play a show it's worth knowing there's gonna be carniage. I did a show at the Summit Cafe with them once and they all wore hula dancer gear...they fucking went berzerk and were kicking speakers and throwing stuff. That's their thing, and Josh from the Summit knew what to expect before we booked them just so he'd be prepared. It's part of their shtick.

So on the one hand, I'm saddnened that Todd got in trouble for the whole thing, but on the other I know what will happen when the Skullfuckers come around and I'm not only not surprised, I'm appreciative that they haven't become a timid boy band. I don't think they should have to pay for any damages (fuck, I mean, what if everyone sent Serj a bill for the dirty power fucking up amps?) but I think other bands that play there shouldn't follow Shaniqua's example; respecting venues is where it's at.
