I dunno that I'd call that a "straight up Metal" show (though I haven't heard ROSETTA), stuff like DYSRHYTHMIA seems to have a very select appeal amongst fragments of the Metal, Hardcore and other scenes... I would venture to say that probably includes a bunch of older folk not as likely to come out to a basement show at 6:30 on a weeknight, and I certainly know in the case of CWAF, the people/friends that come out for them are typically older/full-time employed/what have you. The Metal shows at all the squats in Olneyville in Providence did really well, from what I experienced, cause there were not time constraints or obstacles to a BYOB/W/etc. atmosphere (which is certainly a constraint in some house and hall shows)... And I don't remember if they gave super specific directions, but the places were easy to find. I don't know how late the BCCA lets you run, but I'd certainly recommend keeping your eyes open for more isolated or warehouse-y type spaces. I can't really claim to know what the average 15-20 year old Metaller around here listens to, I guess maybe try to get bands in this age range with friends on the bills? I think the actual underground Metal scene around here is for the most part a bit older in general (than the Punk and Hardcore scenes) - I'm sure there are a lot of kids that are big into IN FLAMES, MORBID ANGEL, CRADLE OF FILTH, ARCH ENEMY, NILE, what have you, that would be receptive to new/local stuff, but I personally would not know where to begin promoting to them. I also think there's a huge potential for Metal/Punk crossover around here these days, so I definitely think some mixed genre bills would have a lot of potential. There's definitely interest on both sides, I say take advantage of it, just be mindful in building genuinely complimentary bills. I have some more specific ideas on this if you're interested.
